This is my third Natasha Debona palette but only the second one that I like. I find that if you are buying this blindly on line like I am, it’s a bit of a risk, especially with the high price. Firstly, this is a bold palette and I find that really with all her palettes and the quality is the best you will find, regards pigment, blend ability and staying power. But they are difficult to use, there is no doubt about that. I also find that if you layer and layer any of her shadows, it can quickly turn muddy and look heavy. The best looks I have done are using three shadows at the most. I would say this isn’t an overly warm toned palette, which I prefer. There are many cool shades and most are neutral in their tone and some cool.
There are taupe/brown shades here and yes you will find similar in other palettes regarding the shades, but out of all my palettes, these mattes are the most creamy, perfect mattes I have ever used (and I have a lot of palettes). It pains me to say I can see why it’s the price tag it is, purely for the quality. I give this four stars though due to the difficulties in using them. I find that I have to use different application techniques with them, patting in the glitters on top of glitter glue…packing on some of the brighter shades for example. But they stay on and I have experienced zero fallout with all the shades here, including the glitter. I would buy this again, but I don’t think I will need to for quite a while, as the pans are huge.

I really like this palette! I was apprehensive about purchasing it due to the mixed reviews online, but couldn’t resist the colors and finishes in it. The mattes/ shimmer/ duochrome/ metallic shadows are great: high quality, easy to blend and place on the lid. I was most worried about the chroma crystal ones (fine glitter) which received a lot of negative reviews; the colors are great, they have multidimensional shimmer and come in four shades in the palette, but tend to crumble and kick up a mess if you use a brush. I decided to buy a tube of too faced glitter glue along with the palette: they work amazing together and I get little to no fall out! I use the glitter shadows to finish off a look, so after placing/ blending all other shadows on my eyelids, I take a small amount of glitter glue on my ring finger and tap it wherever I want the glitter shade to go (mostly middle of the lid above the iris). I then gently press my pinkie finger into the glitter eyeshadow pan to pick up the shade and then press/ spread it over the glitter glue (the edges blend well with some tapping and pressing). This method works well for me and I don’t get any fallout on my face during shadow placement or during the day. I love the palette, the colors are amazing and most of the formulas are great (slightly more effort for the glitter shades). The only downside of the palette is that it’s not a standalone for me, I need a highlighting and a matte bone shade in addition to it.

I had to rewrite a review and yes a positive one on this palette. It will be one of my go-to palettes for a while because you can do SO many looks without even thinking (either buy going horizontally, diagonally or vertically as she designed the palette or even your own “L” shapes, light, darker, darkest combos). You can mess up with this palette (at least colorwise). That said, this isn’t a palette for newbies to makeup unless you’re quick to learn that you MUST use either a press-tapping application for the glitter formulas and either that are a synthetic brush (not a flat one) for the duo-chrome/shimmer like-colors. I only out the price high because shelling out 169$ at one time for a palette is a lot, but try it somewhere first, if you can or buy it from a source that will let you return it, and if you like it like I do, you’ll really not need any other palette (so you save lots of money and per pan price makes it very affordable). Last, the palette is heavy, quality, leather-like with a sheet to protect the colors. I’d say 3 1/2 to 4 stars. Am very glad of my purchase and plan to offer one to my daughter perhaps for her birthday.

This is an incredibly expensive palette that contains 18 eyeshadows for $169. The palette introduces two new formulas to the Natasha Denona brand: Creamy Matte and Crystal. The palette has two sets of nine eyeshadows, and the idea is that you can use any three eyeshadows together that appear in a line, whether the line is vertical or horizontal. I found this very intriguing, so my first uses of this palette have been true to that idea.
I find that the Creamy Matte formulas that I have tried and worn so far are really nice. They are pigmented and easily deposit color and blend well. I have used Flesh, Gemma, Diadem, Vega, and Atik so far (I haven’t used the purples as of yet).
The Crystals are so incredibly beautiful in the pan…they are just gorgeous. I found their texture fairly problematic to work with though. I am a person who really doesn’t mind powdery eyeshadows, as long as they carry a lot of pigment. I generally find that if I put a little loose powder under my eye before applying eyeshadow, then I can use a fan brush and brush away any fallout. Unfortunately, that did not work with the Crystal formula eyeshadows. It’s not that they are powdery; they are not terribly pigmented but insanely full of micro glitter. I’m also not afraid of micro glitter, but I do not want it falling all over my face and clothes, and this is exactly what these did. The first time I used Galaxia and was just totally saddened by how much fell all over my face and by how hard it was to remove. I tried the fan brush. I tried a little touch up of foundation via beauty blender. I resorted to scotch tape. The second time I used the Crystal formula, I used Polaris. This time I tried a dot of MAC Fix+ on the back of my hand and dipped my brush into it and then the eyeshadow. It made no difference whatsoever. It did not seem to alter the texture of the eyeshadow, and glitter still fell everywhere. I then tried just patting it on with my finger and that wasn’t great either. I have now ordered some glitter glue, because I REALLY want these to work.
Other than the Crystal formulas being frustrating, I actually really like this palette. Again, the colors that are put together are rather foolproof, and I made some eye looks that I may not have achieved just on my own. They are fairly neutral, with some differing textures (just ignore the glitter trail that I am leaving). I’m still glad I bought this palette, because the Creamy Mattes are really nice, and the metallic shadows are just gorgeous. The duo-chrome, Orion, a blue-brown, is stunning. The look that I did with Orion, Flesh, and Gemma…I just thought it was incredibly beautiful and special. I did Flesh in the crease/transition, worked Gemma lightly in the crease but heavier on the outer V, and put Orion all over the lid. I got a slight bit of transfer of Orion into my crease, but that could have been because I piled it on, because it was just so pretty.
The packaging is a metallic silverish-gold with embossed stars. I think it’s cute, but I also liked the white 28-shadow palettes.
If you aren’t sure about this palette, I would probably skip it. If you have tried Natasha Denona and know you like her eyeshadows, you may enjoy this. If the price tag makes you gasp though, you don’t need this.
Update: I tried the Crystal formula on top of Too Faced Glitter Glue, patting it on with my finger. It wasn’t perfect, but it dramatically reduced the amount of fallout. I started congratulating myself on a job well done, but I did notice some fallout when a light was shining directly down on my face. So not perfect, but I’m definitely trying it again. I tried it with Spectrum today.
