I think I have tried all the LUSHNESS shampoo bars and they’re all pretty awesome. Like the other bars, the lather is fabulous, and a little goes a long way, so the bar lasts me months. This one smells SO GOOD. Think citrus but literally like fresh squeezed orange juice and lemon juice mixed together. The smell lingers in my hair and gives me a boost throughout the day. This shampoo bar is really good for adding shine to the hair, and it’s quite clarifying. This would be a definite no go for someone with dry hair, and no matter what kind of hair you have, you’ll need to use a conditioner to replace some of what this bar strips. Overall this shampoo bar is awesome.

I love Montalbano, it’s my second favourite Lush solid shampoos (first would be Smuggler’s Soul, but that’s limited edition). I’ve repurchased this multiple times.
To start, I’ve got relatively unproblematic hair: thick, straight, not colored, not dry or damaged but prone to an oily scalp. I find this shampoo leaves my hair nice and fresh and squeaky clean but doesn’t dry it out. I always feel a little energized after using it, and my scalp feels really light after, especially since I do like to use various hair oils and styling products. I feel like it helps with volumizing because my hair isn’t weighed down. I don’t think I would recommend this to anyone with dry hair because Montalbano certainly seems to be quite a thorough cleansing shampoo. I imagine it would be too harsh on damaged or dry hair.
The scent is a lovely, uncomplicated clean lemon smell that thankfully does not smell like a cleaning product. It also doesn’t linger so it won’t clash with perfume.

I bought this shampoo bar DESPITE reading all the bad reviews on here because it smells so good and looked so cool in the store, and I am trying to be more environmentally friendly. I also thought the natural ingredients would help my hair. This is one of the worst shampoos I’ve ever tried! The top of my hair was super greasy, almost felt like it wasn’t completely dried. However, the bottom of my hair was so dry and the texture felt absolutely disgusting. I used it twice and had to stop after the second time because I couldn’t even flip my hair, because the top was so greasy. This is the first shampoo bar I’ve tried, so I don’t know a good alternative but if you’re in the market for one make sure to stay as far away from this one as possible!

This is a great shampoo that leaves hair squeaky clean,to an extent it helps with the texture of hair lending a shine but I do feel it won’t work on dry hair and may end up drying them further, I got a good number of washes with it and added the bits to a liquid shampoo (TBS Banana Shampoo) and totally loved cleaning my hair with that.

This shampoo bar was kinda meh. I’m not too concerned about the scent of my shampoo bars, so this was ok. It left my hair squeaky clean. However, this bar was quite drying. It wasn’t as drying as waves but still quite drying and I ended up needing more conditioner. It also shrinks much faster than other lush shampoo bars, so I used up this bar quite fast. While my Godiva and Seanik lasted around 4 months with daily usage, this one lasted half that time, and isn’t a worthwhile investment.

I like the smell of this product but every time I use it my hair is so dry afterward. I have oily hair and this shampoo over dries it. I have tried several Lush shampoo bars like this one and they are all extremely drying. Side note: the way I use this is by wetting my hands and the soap and then rubbing the suds on to my hands and massaging my scalp, so its not like I am applying the bar directly to my scalp or all over my hair. Not a good product.

I wasn’t a fan of this in the end because it was too drying. I think it would be good as a clarifying shampoo but I don’t use many heavy build up products and was using it as my regular shampoo every 2 days or so. I used this when I had very long hair and found I needed more conditioner after for the ends, and had more dryness at the scalp which then caused even more oil production and buildup. I didn’t end up finishing the bar. The scent was nice, clean and lemony like advertised, but I just wasn’t a fan unfortunately.
