100 years ago the popular (read monied) girls in my high school used to use this, while I was stuck with the cheap no name brands, so I’ll always associate it with fancy things and pretty girls. It also means I always buy it whenever I see it, just because I can!
I personally love the slight burn – it feels like it’s actively doing something (I know it’s probably just menthol, but don’t ruin the mystery for me, ok?).
Applies easily, almost like a liquid, and smells great.
That being said, I feel like they’ve changed the formula recently. It feels thicker, less slick and heavier. Hope I just got a bad batch, because I’ll miss it’s prior glossiness.

LOVE this stuff! Super mosturizing, smells and taste great(my boyfriend loves the taste lol). It leaves my lips super smooth and the vanilla taste and smell is great.

I really like thin balm sticks because they fit in my pocket nicely so of course I picked the thinnest balm I could find regardless of how well it worked.
I was really lucky, actually, to have found something I liked immediately (especially after the 4 failures after that.)
The scent is really nice; it’s not super strong, it’s just pleasant.
I personally prefer more oily ones because they apply smoothly but this might be a TAD bit too oily sometimes.
The tube is very tiny, though, so I tend to run out very quickly. They’re fairly cheap & I think the value packs are the same price as the single packaged ones.
It’s a nice light balm; not as long lasting as babylips or anything like that. Probably a good emergency/purse balm 😀

I really like this. I like the mint French vanilla, and I love that it has SPF 20. It’s not too waxy, too greasy, or too buttery. It makes my lips very soft. It also seems to plump my lips.
This was a little expensive when I bought it, but I did buy a two pack. It still seemed overpriced.
I really don’t like the packaging. The super narrow tube is time consuming to apply. I feel like I need to put on a lot. Also, because it’s so narrow I lose this one a lot. It falls to the bottom of bags and I forget that it’s in my pocket.
This is really good lip balm though. Very kiss friendly 🙂

My all time favorite Chapstick in high school. Today, not so much. It’s quite drying as you wear it instead of moisturising & sinking into lips. But I love the slim packaging. The minty, vanilla flavor is addicting!! I’ll use it in a pinch or layered on top of an Original Chapstick for flavor. It’s not a must have, but it’s a decent lip balm!

I found this product would sink in quickly, but instead of moisturizing my lips it would help to peel any skin off leaving my lips dry and slightly rough. I would keep reapplying each hour for temporary relief, but overall this lip balm was just an exercise in futility.
I find that softer lip balms don’t work quite as well as waxier ones for me so SoftLips may suit someone else better, but if (bees)wax-based lip balms have been working for you then I would stick with them.

This was a bust for me. The only thing I liked was the packaging (it being thinner was a plus in my book, it’s easier to be precise when applying).
Things I hated:
– Did nothing to moisturise my lips. At all.
– Felt dryish but oily at the same time? I don’t even know how to describe it, but as a lip treatment, this failed in every single way.
– It gave me a bitter taste and raw feeling at the back of my throat. To be fair to the product, this happens to me with other lipbalms with spf or a lot of petrolatum in them. I’m not sure why.
– The smell is nice going on but then all you can sniff is spf. That unpleasant smell didn’t go away.
– It dried out my lips and made them look waxy.
– Myristyl myristate is highly comedogenic, and I missed this on the ingredients list. I got a small but very inflammed and painful pimple right on my cupid’s bow and I only used this for 2 days. FML.
I regret buying this. It’s quite pricy for a drugstore product, especially an ineffective one. Threw my open tube out and gave the other to my roommate. I’ll stick to my eos for now, even if it’s summer and it doesn’t have spf 🙁

Okay, being perfectly honest here, some of you might not like to hear this, but it’s true. And totally atests to the power of this stuff. The first time I ever tried this product, a crack head gave it to me. Seriously. She was the sister of this guy I was sort of seeing a few years ago. She bought a pack that had two of these in it so she gave me one. She was telling me how it’s her favorite lip gloss and as she’s talking I’m checking out her lips. Smoking crack can totally wreck your lips. Burn then, cut them, all sorts of nasty stuff. But hers actually looked great which was apparently because of this lip stuff. I didn’t have that sort of extreme lip situation going on but I was on sort of a vacation at the time and didn’t have a proper SPF lip product with me so I was really happy she gave me one of these. I liked the sleek white tube. And vanilla has been my trademark scent for years so that was a brilliant bonus. And we were spending quite a bit of time in the sun those days so this stuff probably saved my lips. It has sort of a slight tingly feeling that goes away after a while. So it’s not a big deal. I find it pleasant, anyway. It has a lovely smell/flavour that isn’t overpowering. This stuff isn’t quite like other lip glosses or balms. It just feels different. It soaks in, is what’s going on – guess. That tingling, it feels like it’s actually getting into your lips. After a while, when the top layer wears off, your lips are still soft and smooth. I can get away with applying this stuff just once before I go out somewhere. And if I’m using it daily, at least once a day, it does start to make a very noticable change to the state of my lips. They don’t get chapped at all and hardly even feel dry. I’ve bought this a couple times since that initial tube I was given. I don’t really seek out SPF products, nor do I feel the need to, I wouldn’t have the patients for the trial-and-error, so this is forever my go-to sunscreen lip product. I love how the slim tube fits into my purse or even the clutch my Fast Flats are in, love throwing it in there for a night out. Surprisingly, that small tube lasts longer than you would think. For the price, this is a good deal. I keep an eye out for those double packs so I can maybe pass this gem on to someone else, too. 🙂 If you don’t want to screw around looking for an SPF lip product this summer, do your self – and your lips! – a big favour, just pick up some SoftLips. Problem solved! If it worked for her…..

Feels very silky and a nice scent, but does not actually improve my lips long term.
