I was hoping this would be a good substitute for my favourite moisturiser, Neutrogena Multi Defence Daily Moisturiser SPF15, which was sadly discontinued. The Avene Hydrance Optimale UV Riche SPF20 is SO disappointing. The product is not nearly moisturising enough for age 40+ skin – this is supposed to be the ‘dry’ skin version, so what must the ‘normal’ skin light version be like).
The Avene moisturiser is also expensive – £11 for just 40ml – most moisturisers contain at least 50ml.
If you have dry skin and suffer from eczema (as I do) this product will not be moisturising enough for you.

I wanted a basic day cream with an spf to fight aging. After researching the isles in my shop ( I work at a parapharmacie) I decided to ditch my fancy Caudalie, Nuxe and Darphin. Avene has never disappointed me in the past and again it proved to be a HG product. While checking the ingredients there was 1 thing that convinced me: it contains soy extracts (2 of them). Soy has been proven to fight aging skin, so this was my match made in heaven. Spf, hydration, and anti aging qualities!
The cream doesn’t feel that lightweight as I expected, and leaves a sticky finish right after applying. This feeling goes away in about 10 minutes and then my skin feels soft and looks radiant. I use the fluid foundation by Couvrance (Avene) over it and it looks absolutely beautiful. My skin looks fresh and feels hydrated all day, foundation lasts too.

This moisturizer is one of my favorites during wintertime. It has a delicate scent and a soft feeling against my skin that reminds me of a cozy blanket.

My go to! I have strayed from this product twice, with hopes that I could find something better but I always come back to this! I have not found another product that leaves my face feeling as moist, plump and fresh. No oily residue and when used in conjunction with the serum, you only need to use a very little bit so it goes a long way. I find it a little heavy in the summers, but for the nine months of winter here in Toronto, it is perfect! No offensive smells, packaging is simple yet effective, I love this brand and their products and highly recommend it to my fellow combination, acne prone skin friends!

Excellent moisturiser which I used every morning after spraying my face with avene thermal water, a layer of serum and then I apply this moisturiser which comes in a tube so is easy and hygienic to use. You only need a bit and it absorbs easily into my skin, this instantly provides hydration to my drying skin, leaving it plump, hydrated and glowing, a must product.

I have been using this for years and I truly like it. It is a bit expensive, but anything for Avéne is not cheap.
I do like how light and quickly it absorbs and doesn’t gets my skin sticky. It gets hydrated for a long time. The only reason I didn’t rated as 5 star (lipsticks?) is because after a few hours my skin feels a bit dry. Maybe because my skin is originally dry (with the proper care, your skin turns to the normal-type) and I feel I have to reapply it.

I used this couple of years ago and it was OK for hydrating properties. I cannot say im an avid user of an SPF (I know, embarassed to admit), but now with the warmer months coming, I might give it a go just because lower SPF (20-30) is less likely to cause any sensitivity while giving you ~95% protection.

Amazing cream!!!! My skin is ultra sensitive and breaks out or gets a burning sensation with all cream EXCEPT for this one. Truly amazing for sensitive skin and I cannot recommend enough!

When temperature dropped below 20oC I started using this. Everything is a plus, makes the most out of my normal/mixed/dehydrated skin.
For temperatures +20oC (end of spring/summer/start of fall) I used Hydraphase UV INTENSE Légère – La Roche Posay and it was good (I plan on trying Avene’s light UV version next).
In the last couple of years I have found that proper hydration of my skin can actually prevent most of my other skin concerns: sensitivity, weird oiliness, bumps, grainy pores, acne, redness, inflamation….So I advise hydration even for the most oily and acne prone skin types – French pharmacy brands have great range of hydrating moisturisers for every skin type. Korean and other Asian brands have amazing products also and seem to be very effective. My recommendation for trying out Asian stuff would be type of cosmetics that are expensive in Europe/USA but are cheap and very effective in Asian brands: sleeping masks (Laneige water sleeping pack), sheet masks and serums/ampule/essences. These in combination with French cosmetics for sensitive skin does wonders.

This moisturizer is definitely not hydrating enough for dry skin. I have to moisturizer before I apply unless I’m in a very humid hot climate. I keep repurchasing though because the SPF is quite high for the light texture of this cream. There is not white film or oil sitting in the face. Caution: it tastes extremely bad so avoid the mouth area at all costs!
