pigment is good but doesn’t last. Cheap annoying packaging

Essence is one of my favorite drugstore brands. Their nail polishes are pretty good, their lip liners are great, as is their Stay All Day 16h concealer. Some of their mascaras also perform quite well. But the quality of their shadows leaves a lot to be desired. I have tried quite a few of them and they all vary in texture and in intensity of the colour. The application is uneven, they are difficult to blend, and the staying power is rather poor. And although I was applying, as always, my favorite Too Faced Shadow Primer, these shadows creased, melted and started to disappear after several hours only. Not good.

I have only purchased one of these shadows and I am very glad that they are cheap at $1.99 for a single, because I was not satisfied with the quality. The shadow pans appeared bigger in pictures, although for such a low price I should have expected it to be small. The packaging is also not good unless you are putting the shadow into a palette, as the top is unattached to the rest of the packaging and can be lost, unlike a single with a top that flips open. I did not find the shadow itself to be of good quality. It was chalky and did not hold up well. Its longevity was slightly improved with shadow primer, but nonetheless I have no intention of repurchasing any of these in the future.

I have 3 of these: 03 Miss Foxy Roxy (a bronze like color), 21 Kissed by a mermaid (a dark bluish green) and 22 Holo Holic (a beautiful blue with pink/mauve reflections).
The packaging is awful – hard to use, hard to keep together. If you count the money for individual colors and the plastic palette, you end up with quite expensive makeup of poor quality.
They don’t last at all. They break apart and look awful after a couple of hours.Very disappointing, as I really love the colors (and they do look lovely when freshly applied).
Save your money! Wet n’ wild and Miss Sporty are cheaper and a lot better. Lots of other options are more expensive a lot better. These just make no sense at all.

These are genius. You buy an empty palette – they come in 4 or 8. Then you fill the palettes with the colours of your choosing. I ended up buying 3 of the empty palettes and 12 of the individual colours and made 3 beautiful palettes. If you want to, you can use the colours without buying the palette to store them in as the individual eyeshadows do have a lid. Otherwise you simply discard the lid and place the colours in the palette. In Australia there are 16 colours to choose from, including a very beautiful shade called “stay in coral bay” which I use as a transition colour. It is the perfect peachy coral colour and is so gorgeous!!. Most of the shades are in the brown family, but there are some amazing lid colours including my favourite one called “apricotta”. The quality of these shadows is just incredible for the price. You absolutely need to buy these!
