   This moisturizer is very basic. I prefer my moisturizers to have stuff like retinol or vitamin c etc, but I do give it credit for being vegan. I think it would only work on oily skin types. I have combo skin and it didn’t provide enough moisture for my drier areas. It also leaves a slightly tacky feeling on the skin, probably due to aloe extract being pretty high up on the ingredients list. It’s decribed as smelling like fresh coconut and ocean water, but my SO thinks it smells like birthday cake. Whatever this scent is, I do rather enjoy it. If you do decide to use this, definitely heed the labeled warning and do not get it near your eyes. I accidently put some too close to my eyes once and it stung like heck!

   My skin is sensitive, dry, and acne-prone. It’s difficult to find a moisturizer that doesn’t irritate or cause breakouts for me. I avoid cetyl alcohol/fatty acids and dimethicone, which is in most moisturizers. When I find one that doesn’t have those ingredients, I really get my hopes up – like I did with the Sea Rescue Gel. It does not contain those ingredients nor anything that flags red on COSdna.

   The formula is a clear gel, similar to aloe vera gel in look and consistency, although a little lighter. It does feel a bit sticky on the skin after application but that fades in moments. I only used it at night, so I can’t speak to how it would function under makeup. It does not have a scent, and absorbs within 5 minutes. Per the directions, it’s not for the eye area.

   The packaging is very pretty, and the squeeze tube is functional. Price $12-$15 depending on where you buy it.

   Sadly, this was not a winner for me. Not only did it seem to cause several small blemishes (I developed 5-6 during the week that I used it, mostly whiteheads) but it was not moisturizing enough. My chin became increasingly dry and flaky. It didn’t really seem to be having any hydrating impact. I discontinued use.
