I often complain about Tom Ford’s products and prices, but I have to give this lipstick a rave review. Luscious is a perfect spring/summer mauve lipstick (it’s much lighter on the lips than it looks in the photo, but it has depth, so it’s not chalky). Not too light, not too dark, not too cool (although it is not neutral or warm at all)–just perfect. (Sephora describes it as a “brown-based mauve,” but I don’t find it brownish in the least.) It’s packaged in a square, white tube. Normally I loathe overpackaged lipstick that takes up space in my bag, but the lipstick bullet is quite slim, so the tube is squat (about 2/3 the size of a regular TF$ lipstick), so it’s not a space waster. The formula is wonderfully creamy, applies easily, is quite opaque with one swipe, feels light on the lips, and does not bleed. There is a scent, but it’s very light, slightly sweet, pleasant, and disperses quickly. It feels somewhat moisturizing and is very comfortable on the lips, and the wear is quite exceptional (it wears off evenly–no ring-around-the-lips with this one). About the name (Ultra Shiny)–I bought this last summer (2018), when new shades (this was one of them) were introduced into the Ultra Shine Lip Color collection. Apparently the formula was tweaked to make it more opaque and less shiny, but the name remained unchanged. So this lipstick is not ultra shiny–in fact, it has more of a satin finish–so if you’re expecting shine, this is not the place you’ll find it. Mauve is my best shade for lips and cheeks, so I will be wearing it often. It’s pricey, yes, but this is one TF$ product that’s worth the bucks ($55–yes, ridiculous, but it is TF$). And it shows no sign of going rancid (yet)!
