I have very mixed reviews on Caudalie products in general. This one I preferred, although when using it along with other moisturizers, this product often caused me to break out. I had much more success using the essence on its own. I did see a slight change in brightening, as well as fading with my freckles. With that being said, I get the feeling that you might need to use a full-sized bottle at least once before you see maximum results (I only had a smaller sample size).

I recently loaded up on Caudalie products while I was in Paris, as they are far more affordable there than in the US. I read RAVE reviews for this brightening essence, so I just had to try it.
I’ve been using the essence a few times a week for several months now, and I haven’t seen any improvement in my skin’s appearance thus far. What’s more, I can’t STAND the scent! Have you ever smelled saliva on a pillow (nasty, I know)? That’s what this reminds me of: a sickly-sweet mixture of saliva and honey.
On the bright side (no pun intended), I haven’t experienced any irritation, it’s not sticky like some essences, and the clear glass bottle looks really elegant on my vanity.

I have deluxe size mini from a gift set purchase and still waiting to see the glow that everyone speaks about using this. I do see some additional visitors on my face (acne) but I’m not too concerned about them yet. I apply this on a cotton square or place in my palms and pat into my skin after cleansing. It doesnt leave a sticky feeling on the skin…absorbs right in and then I go in with my serum and night/or day cream. I will say that my skin texture does look and feel soft after application.

A watery toner with glycolic acid to increase cell turnover, and arginine, an anti-oxidant amino acid, that reduces inflammation. This gives me a tingle that I get with most glycolic acids to show its working. The scent is very light sweet white grape juice.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Caudalie say if you use the serum this toner increases the results even more. Claims are that 33 women using this 2x daily for 56 days and evaluated by dermatologists experienced:
+32% reported brightened complexion*
+49% reported more refined skin*
This is improvement compared to previously using the serum alone. My trial size bottle wasn’t enough to evaluate whether this made a difference for me personally or not. So I’m not sure if I want to continue to purchase it again and use twice a day AS WELL as use the serum. Its quite a time and financial commitment to use both for several months to get results. I think I’ll stick to the serum for now.

I like this product but am unsure if I would repurchase.
I do not feel any particular effect of the essence on my dark spots but it leaves my skin feeling refreshed after use.
However, the use of it in combination with the serum seems to work well for my dark spots! I have seen some improvement.
I had a mild breakout initially when using but then it subsided and my skin got more radiant and complexion got clearer!
Not sure if the effect is from the essence or serum, but they seem to work great together!

I’m addicted to this essence. It brightens my skin like nothing else. I use it in combo with the serum from the same line, and now my skin is naturally glowy even with make-up on (using no base o primer to achieve that specific effect)!
I use it at night after removing my make-up and I spread it evenly on my skin with a cotton pad.
I have avoided toners, until now, because it is the only skincare item that I have always considered useless, but this one really makes a noticeable difference on my combo-dry skin.

If you are into your exfoliating toners, then this is as good as it gets.
There are a lot of similar products on the market (Pixi Glow Tonic or the Ordinary Glycolic Toner to name a few), however, Caudalie’s version is the best one yet. If you are new to glycolic acid in general, it is an amazing exfoliating acid (derived from sugar crops) that will effectively remove dead layer of the skin, by revealing a fresh glowing complexion. These do tingle upon first few uses, but there is nothing to worry about.
Scent is quite minimal, so thankfully it doesn’t irritate my already sensitive skin. The base here is “grape water” and polyphenols, which are known as the world’s best natural anti-oxidants, so when you use this essence for quite some time, you skin will strengthen its natural protection barriers. I talk more about science and results in a separate review here ( but in two-words – this essence does brighten and refresh your skin in a very good way and one bottle will last you ages! Great for people with textured, dull skin.

I really like this but took a week or so of continuous use to see benefits. I find best results are when applied in a tapping motion with hands and several layers rather than with cotton wool.
I will try in a spray bottle to speed things up a little. Bit pricey but I would repurchase as I find it a bit of a dual product as it gives my skin added moisture too as well as gently exfoliating which leaves me with a nice glow.

At 66, open to trying new products that will make my skin healthy. There’s no real turning back the clock on an aging face, other than cosmetic/plastic surgery. Fillers and Botox absolutely improve wrinkles, and peels improve texture. But never going to be 40 again. ‘sigh’ Having said that, doing a variation of the 10-step Asian methods of skin care. My regime is about 7 steps. Absolutely love washing with oil, followed by creamy cleanser at night. Think that alone has improved texture of my skin. Regular toners leave my skin too dry, so use a micellar water (Cerave, love it) and have been skipping both toner and essence water. DH gave me $100 Sephora gift card for Christmas, so off I went! The SA, who is very knowledgeable concerning products for my age group, said she really liked this product. Three Cons: Price $42.00, and the heavy glass bottle, that many essence products come in. But the worse Con? Found the scent repulsive. Have you ever come across a dirty dish cloth or towel, maybe even a bathing suite, that you forgot about? That had been rolled up in a ball, and you happened to find, a weeks later? Just can’t get pass the odor. Of course, scents and smells are so personal. To others, may not be offensive. May ask for sample of the Mercedes of essences, SK-II, when return this. Here’s a great link to website found regarding all the hype on essences: For now, will continue to use Cerave Micellar water, combining the toner and essence step.~~~

The Caudalie Vinoperfect Concentrated Brightening Essence is a decent product Caudalie, who normally loves to use fragrance in its products. It absorbs quickly and contains some ingredients that can help brighten skin. If I had my choice there are a few ingredients I would remove from the formula, namely the bitter orange flower water. This can be irritating to sensitive (and normal) skin. They could more effectively brighten skin by replacing this ingredient with arbutin or a research proven skin lightener.
