I love this perfume for winter. It’s very heavy and spicy, much like a cologne, not particularly ‘feminine’. I’m a fan of scents that lean more masculine for cooler weather, so this is right up my alley. According to Fragrantica, this is an ‘oriental floral’ which means a warm, spicy floral, however the only floral note I get from this is rose. Other notes are vanilla, sandalwood and amber, to my nose, with the amber most prominent. This lingers for days, I have even smelt it on clothing I have washed after wear. Tom Ford is pricey but I still haven’t bought a fragrance from the brand I didn’t love. The packaging is also beautiful, a hefty black glass bottle with a gold lid, in the signature TF style. The only thing I wish was different would be for the glass bottle to be transparent so I could see how much I have left! I would definitely repurchase this.

OMG this parfume is so nice on the skin. Very sexy en dark. The first 10 minutes I did not like it but after that I fell in love.

Wow, this is amazing!! I was on the hunt for an evening perfume and wanted a sophisticated, complex, a bit powdery. sultary and sexy scent to use for dinners and going out with the girls. I actually was going to buy Chanel noir, and came across TF on a whim. This suited the bill in every level! This is the most sexy smelling perfume I’ve ever sniffed. I nearly fainted the first time I applied this to my arm. Luckily my husband loves it too, as it is quite strong and not for the faint at heart. I feel so put together and rich when wearing this, and that is not a coincident, as it is by far my most expensive perfume of all time. It’s up there with Chanel brand, but worth every penny in my book. I bought the rollerball as I wanted to be 100% sure before investing in a full bottle, and although I’ve only owned this a wee, I’m sure to buy a full bottle of this at some point!

Tom Ford’s aesthetic is up there for me with David Lynch and Coco Chanel. You only need to watch one of his films to understand his sublime taste and edgy glamour. He knows how to find beauty in dirt; he knows how to make the beautiful empty. All of his work is complex.
I don’t know the depth of his involvement with his fragrance line but it wouldn’t surprise me if he was very driven by fragrance. Even when he was working with Estee Lauder on Azuree Soleil and Youth Dew Amber Nude, the vision – the ribbed boudoir bottles, the potency, the modern take on a 1950s dream – came through as clear as a bell.
Though Tom Ford Noir doesn’t have the same audacity as Black Orchid, it’s still a noteworthy fragrance. It’s so delicious, dark and smooth, smelling like spiced vanilla ice cream, tobacco, stewed plums and wood, but somehow manages to be clean-ish in the dry-down, rather than scratchy. Whilst of course it’s a winter warmer, the transparency and lack of funk in its tail make it bloom in a hot, sultry way in summer.

Oh my god. I love this. I smelled the tester SO HARD I nearly rammed it up my nose. I couldn’t stop smelling this. Could. Not. Stop. I own many many perfumes. This one has been the only one that as soon as I smelt it I thought “Holy hell..holy fusnehthsidneddgd! That’s me!!” And I instantly bought it. I didn’t even try it on and I bought it. It’s so amazing on someone with the right chemistry. There are some scents out there that I love, but just turn so horrid on me it makes me sad. This was not one of those scents. I couldn’t wait to get this on my body. It’s sweet, but not so sweet that it’s cloying. It’s warm, but not so warm that it can’t stand up to the hotter months. To me, this is sophisticated without being boring or safe. It’s downright sexy..and mysterious. And sexy. On my skin, this brings out the most amazing vanilla and tobacco scent. Not sickly or cloying. Did I mention it’s sexy?

In a word, sumptuous. This reminds me very affectionately or a darker and maybe slightly less peppery and pungent version of L’histoire Parfumeur’s 1876. The cinnamon rose Mata Hari combo. Lots of people didn’t like that, but I adored. If you didn’t like that, I still would say try this, as it is richer and deeper and less synthetic or one-dimensional smelling. I get rose, chocolate, cinnamon, and maybe some vanilla too. I sense a quality of lightness too that is probably coming from the orange notes listed here in the description, but no orange is really identifying itself to my nose, which, for me, is a blessing, as I hate orange in fragrances, but I do appreciate it when that note is added to a fragrance like this, as it lends a lightness to the dark and dense notes, without compromising the warmth or character of the rest of the blend or doing much to clash with it.
Overall, a win for me, and a great quasi-introduction to Tom Ford. More curious about his private blends than anything: Santal Blush and Oud Fleur and Tobacco Vanille namely and mainly. I sampled Black Orchid already too, but I did not like,. a bit too harsh and sneezy and aldehydic for my tastes. But I can see how that is a good composition and why many women and men love it for themselves or their partners.

Did not like at all. I smell nothing but cedar closet. Not for me.

TF Noir pour Femme is the companion fragrance for women to Noir Extreme for men. They are quite similar. The Femme version has a more exuberant sillage. I consider the Noir Extreme version to be unisex. Notes include vanilla or bourbon vanilla, a general gourmand impression, amber, benzoin, woods, possibly some ambroxan. Good longevity and sillage on me. Noir pour Femme is along similar lines of Diptyque Eau Duelle and Cologne of the Missions by Le Couvent des Minimes.

I tested this against YSL Black Opium, TF Black Orchid, TF Velvet Orchid and Dior Pure Poison. I chose Noir, it is quite nice, and exactly the kind of cool weather scent I was looking for.
What stands out for me is a creamy, spiced amber with lovely touches of vanilla and sandalwood. Warm, wintry, nicely balanced sweet and spice. I don’t pick up many of the floral or citrus notes. But there’s a hollowness to it, a sweet dessert emptiness. The deeper I inhale, the more apparent it becomes. I’ve never smelled or tasted Kulfi, but perhaps it is what causes this spongy angel food cake kind of note.
It is slightly similar to both Tobacco Vanille and Obsession, but creamier, sweeter, softer, more gourmand, and just more wearable. A lovely reminder of winter holiday memories and the contrast of a warm fire and old house to cold, bitter New England snowstorms. It’s delicious and sensual without being cheap-feeling. Despite the name, it’s not particularly feminine. A guy could definitely wear this and smell damn good.
I guess they call this an oriental gourmand, and that’s accurate. It’s the only true gourmand in my collection of FBs, and I’m perfectly happy with that.
I don’t like the bottle’s masculine look, but it feels great in the hand. Moderate longevity and decent sillage, though both could be better. It is well crafted and a lovely fragrance overall, but to me it does not smell very original, especially given the stark similarities between many TF fragrances. I don’t mind that, I really enjoy the fragrance, but for the price I was a bit miffed. I will repurchase though. Maybe the 30 mil next time.

This fragrance starts off with a huge chocolate note that made me think this would be a sickly sweet gourmand. But the scent of chocolate soon disappears and you’re left with a beautiful, smoky vanilla and amber fragrance that’s just a little bit spicy. I love this but won’t be purchasing it as the dry down smells too similar to Diptyque Volutes, a fragrance I already own.
