   Hot Tamale is part of the 4-piece #BeccaBFF lipstick collection and the shades are described as being “universally flattering”. Hot Tamale itself is described as a “spicy red with warm undertones”, which I’d call a orangey red shade, with a satin finish. I really enjoy coral-leaning reds, as I think they’re much easier to wear compared to the more classic blue-based red shades.

   Yep; there are lots of lower-cost orange/red lipstick shades out there, but what you’re paying for here is the formula. The satin finish [nearly matte, with a slight bit of slip] is the perfect balance between being a slippy-and-weaker creme and a bit-too-dry matte finish. I think it applies easily in one swipe and sets very quickly, so you are getting the strong colour, [almost] traditional matte finish with good pigmentation & staying power (5 to 6 hours, depending on food drink), minus the tight & drying feeling you can get from a fully matte lipstick. As a partway-to-creme formula you get a more comfortable & slightly-moisturized feeling, minus most of the slip and weaker staying power. The weighty metal tube has a magnetic lid, and I think that the packaging has the suitable look, feel & performance of a cosmetic item in this price-point.

   I paid the full price and am very happy with the shade and quality for the price I paid, however the #BeccaBFF collection is currently on sale and is also starting to show up in TK Maxx. A fantastic steal. I highly recommend the lipsticks and face palettes – fantastic quality.
