I wanted to find myself a pretty, shimmering red with gold glimmer ever since my tube of KVD “Thin Lizzy” finally gave up the ghost and started to smell funky. Since that shade is discontinued (and I won’t buy from her anymore), finding something to scratch that itch has been tough. Which is why I’m surprised I slept on UD’s “Singe” for so long.
It’s not an exact dupe of “Thin Lizzy”, but I actually think it’s a great deal prettier. While TL was a bit more of a rusty red, this is a gorgeous ruby with cooler undertones, which contrasts perfectly with the gold shimmer. When applied lightly, it looks like a juicy reddish stain with a wash of pretty shimmer. When layered, it’s a somewhat striking (though not harsh) red with a fairly packed glittery punch. Either way you swing it, it’s an absolutely stunning shade. I sometimes just pair this with a little mascara (or, on lazy days, nothing else at all) and it brightens up my face so perfectly.
The finish is a touch glossy, but in a gel-like way that doesn’t feel greasy. It doesn’t slide around my face, and it has a shocking amount of wear time (we’re talking hours here) for a non-matte formula. I’ve noticed that it performs significantly better than others in the “Metallized” Vice range. It doesn’t creep into lip lines, doesn’t feather, and doesn’t clump at the corners of my mouth. It just stays looking even and beautiful. It’s quite hydrating, a property which, when compounded by the glossy finish and beautiful shimmer, makes my lips look rather full.
The packaging is the same as the other Vice lipsticks. It’s sturdy, attractive, and doesn’t come open in my bag.
This is $19, which isn’t too bad for a high-end lipstick.
