I must admit, I am surprised by the 3 lippy average rating on here. I got curious about this one because I had a sample of the original Light Blue and while I found it really lovely on initial spray, it faded ridiculously quickly. I got two hours wear out of it at most. However, I was fortunate enough to get a sample of Eau Intense in last year’s Sephora holiday perfume sampler kit, and I ended up buying it a few weeks ago because I loved it so much.
Using Fragrantica to compare the notes between the OG and Eau Intense, there are a few differences and the biggest on my skin is a more pronounced slightly woodier and musky dry-down on Eau Intense that I didn’t get with the original, probably because the scent had fizzled out so quickly. There’s also bamboo for the OG that I don’t see for Eau Intense, although that is a very light note and doesn’t make that much of a difference. Lemon and green apple, which I’m crazy for, are the top notes for both of them. The OG claims to have jasmine, white rose, and amber, none of which I smell. I’m thinking the cedar in the OG’s top and bottom notes is probably weaker compared to the stronger amberwood in Eau Intense’s bottom notes.
The initial blast is very citrusy and fresh, although I wouldn’t call it aggressively astringent or soapy. I don’t get the comparison to cleaning products on my skin. I really do love the opening. The lemon and apple come through strongly and beautifully. Within an hour, it settles to a clean, bright, musky lemon, and stays that way for hours. With the OG, I just smell the lemon and the apple with a hint of floral, but this develops into something more. It lasts for about 6 hours on my skin, far above and beyond the previous’s wear time. The sillage is pretty average. It makes me happy to smell it, a very upbeat fragrance. If you do not like citrus, please stay AWAY, because it is heavy on the lemon, which again is not a problem for me! This is the perfect perfume to wear post-shower or on a hot day.
My biggest gripe with Light Blue Eau Intense is the packaging. It looks just like the original’s bottle but with a slightly darker coloring and cap. I find it very boring looking, and I’m not a fan of the font either – it’s really unappealing! I have also had issues with the cap since only a few hours after buying it. It won’t “click” on the sprayer properly and, as a result, it moves around and pops off frequently. I also wish they made rollerballs of this because I love the smell so much and it’d be handy to put in my purse, which I can’t do with my bottle due to the cap issue. More than likely I’ll just pick up a rollerball of the original, but I’d prefer Eau Intense.

I’ve never owned the original Light Blue so I can’t comment on the longevity, but have smelled it a thousand times and can recognize it instantly. Now that I own the intense version, I can’t help but think that it’s a bit too cloying for me especially during the heat waves. But the original Light Blue was the type of fragrance that just glistened when worn during that type of weather. Longevity is okay for the intense, I still smell it on me after a few hours and I don’t feel as if I need to reapply. But I don’t get the same clean and refreshing scent as I got with the original. I thought this was going to be a safe blind buy, but I’ll have to pass on this.

I’ve always been a diehard true blue fan of Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue. I love the lemon cookey, lemon scented furniture polish (I mean that in a good way. A very good way) scent. The woody undertones are lovely too. I feel like I am a kid again with my mom and brother baking lemon cookies and also catching wafts of newly installed wooden cabinetry. The only problem I found with the original was that I felt I had to spray half the bottle on before anyone could smell me or before I could leave a trail of this lovely perfume. Well those issues have been solved with Light Blue Intense. It really is a stronger more potent version of Light Blue and i love it even more now. Also, this version of the scent has a real cap that sits atop the bottle. Not flat with the top of the bottle in the non intense version so it’s much easier to spray. Bravo Dolce & Gabbana on recreating a beauty of a scent.

Some say that they can smell a scent difference between the original Light Blue and Light Blue Eau Intense. Whatever difference there might be between the two fragrances is, in my opinion, negligible. To my nose they are the same scent: bright, refreshing lemon lime water over a fresh cedar base. In my opinion, if you already own a bottle of the original Light Blue then you don’t need a full bottle of the Intense version. If you love the original and need to purchase a new bottle because you’ve run out, then go ahead and purchase a bottle of the Intense while it’s available. I do think the Intense version has improved sillage and longevity. I got a solid 7 hours on my skin and could smell it on my blouse when I pulled it to wash.
I think this is a safe gift and also a safe blind purchase if you like fresh citrus scents. This and the original were made for hot, humid summer weather. Just pleasant and refreshing.

My husband likes the regular Light Blue, but absolutely hates the intense version. He had the same reaction to it both of the times I tried it. Both times I only applied one spritz and he thought it smelt WAY too strongly. The top notes are as in the original Light Blue, but to me, the base notes seemed to be woody. Woody is good, however, my husband said he could smell me from really far away, and that it smelt horrible. I didn’t understand how anyone would think a woody Light Blue could be horrible, until I got some of this on my jacket…
So, what exactly in this is bad? Well. Apparently, you can smell it from about 10 meters (~30 feet) away – NO ONE should be able to smell you from that far away. The base notes might smell woody at first, but then they turn into a very cheap-smelling, manly (not even unisex) cologne smell, but there’s also a feminine fragrance in the background. This creates a very WEIRD effect: there’s an inner ring where it smells classic Light Blue, then a middle ring where it smells generic feminine perfume, then a huuuuuuge ring of cheap male cologne. Thus: YOU might smell something different than the people around you do when wearing this. The perfume lasts well though… the house has been stinking for 4 days at this point… And it has smelt up ALL of the jackets hanging near my jacket. UPDATE: the cologne smell was hanging around for more than a week, even though I hung the jacket outside several times and wore it outside for several hours. I suppose the people who say this doesn’t last for a long time may be spraying on their skin, because it sure lasts a REALLY long time on clothes.

This edp is fantastic and if you like Light Blue but just wished it had less citrus and more flowers and musk then I think people will like this. I personally love this scent on me it lasts for hours and the sillage is moderate imo. It’s a compliment magnet of a perfume. I get more compliments on this than of any other scents I own. I love musk and this with the Jasmine and Marigold are just lovely. I can smell the apple and it reminds me of the DKNY be delicious line except to me this is a real perfume. It’s fresh, floral with a touch of fruit I just love that in a fragrance. The lemon is still there it’s just not super pronounced. I prefer edp’s to edt’s for some reason and I believe this scent is becoming my signature.
I wear this daily as it’s a great daily scent that is not offensive and I can wear it to so many things. I own many he scents but this is one of my favorites as I love white flowers especially Jasmine. Plus I love scents in the fruity floral range so for me this is a no brainer. Also the fact that it’s heavier on the musk is right up my alley. Yes, this perfume is pricey but if you look you can find it for a little less and as time goes on it’ll go down. I personally hope D&G never stop making this intense version, I think it’s just so lovely! Love this scent so much. 🙂 Recommended.

I used to enjoy the eau de toilette in light blue. But, Then it really didn’t last on me…at all. I have wondered why they didn’t have an eau de perfume until now! Anyway, you’d think it would last…umm, well not really. It’s longer than the original…..but maybe only a bit more.im used to angel, allure….like really good expensive perfumes that last all day until you shower. And this isn’t cheap…but really it’s not that long lasting. A few hours it totally fades a lot. So if you’re looking for a lighter fragrance, this could be it. It’s pretty and all. Lemony, apple and musk. Not huge silage though. Kind of shocked. All the hype. Anyway, maybe I’d repurchase it if I’m looking for a light frag. It’s like the older sister of toilette version….same exact smell with a bit more oomph!
Edit- I returned this. Didn’t last any longer than the eau de toilette. Very light. I’m glad Macy’s takes back anything you don’t like.
