I am very fair and yellow toned with blue eyes, and this is the ideal spring/summer palette for me! Usually palettes have too many dark tones but this is perfect for very fair skin with several transition shades, several highlighters and several pops of color. For the first time, I can use EVERY shade in the palette! I find this more versatile that I first thought. I can create a sunset look, a sweet romantic pinky nude look, or a warm eye. All the shades show up well with good pigment on me – without needing any eye primer. Even the two sparkle shades are buttery and pigmented and last all day without fading. I apply these with my finger for the most intensity. The mattes are slightly dry but have enough pigment and blend well. There is some fallout, especially the shimmer shades but not bad. I’m usually not a fan of Maybelline eye shadows but they have stepped up their game here.

The Lemonade Craze palette contains the following 12 shades of powder eyeshadow: Old Fashioned (chocolate matte), Icepop (mid-pink matte), Strawberry Lemonade (pink champagne shimmer), Berry Ice (ballet pink matte), Citrus (peach-toned champagne shimmer), Sweet Tea (fawn matte), Sherbet (peach-toned cream matte), Main Squeeze (ice lemon shimmer), Sugar Coated (copper shimmer), Coral Punch (peach-toned coral matte), Lemonade Craze (canary yellow matte) and Sunnie’s (ivory matte). The shadows have a delicate sweet & fruity fragrance (lemonade?), that is so soft that I need to have my nose up against the palette to detect it, and after the palette has been opened a few times there’s hardly any scent left.
The strongest point for this palette is that the shades are neither too warm or too cool once applied, so they’ll work with any undertones. Most of the neutral-leaning shades have a subtle fruity undertone, so aren’t as ‘boring’ as I’d first dismissed them as being. I also really appreciate that the majority of the shadows are matte, as I have hooded eyes so the shimmer shades do transfer on me a bit. I’ve tried some of Maybelline’s single matte shadows in the past and didn’t care for them, whilst the matte Gigi Hadid contour palettes have great formulas, and I think that the mattes in this palette are somewhere in between; they aren’t very pigmented and feel a bit powdery, but they do still last all day with very little colour fade and no to very little creasing [there’s no change if I bother with a primer or not]. The shimmers all have better pigmentation and a smoother feel to them, and wear as well as the matte shades do. A special shout out goes to Sugar Coated, as it is a gorgeous shade and has a higher formula quality compared to everything else in the palette.
[this is a review based on the UK edition of Lemonade Craze, which has a different palette layout to the US edition] The eyeshadow pans are split into three quads, with the central quad being larger than the other two; a bit of a waste in my opinion, as the largest quad is the one with the most easily dupeable shades in. This is a limited edition themed palette, so I do think that Maybelline should have put one of the actual ‘lemonade’ themed quads in the larger pans. On the subject of two pan sizes – why? Couldn’t all of the pans have just been slightly larger and uniform instead?
The shades in the Lemonade Craze palette are pretty & fun, and the amount of product you get is good for a drugstore brand [12g in total] – it’s just that I know that I can get a better quality for less money that’s putting me off Lemonade Craze [eg Revolution, Sleek, Primark or Wet n Wild]. If there is a 3-for-2 or another offer on somewhere and this is available, I’d say “get it” to nearly everyone as it is a cheerful mix of shades that is nice to play around with. If buying it alone at full price I’m going to have to say “approach with caution”, exspecially if you have any depth to your skintone, because if you’re don’t have a fair-to-light skintone I’m not sure how/if the shades would work for you since the majority of the shades are on the lighter end of the spectrum and the pigmentation is a bit poor on some of the matte shades.

Bias alert but OMG LEMONADE? BERRY SHADES? SCENTED? Food + summer + cute packaging + cute shade names like Old Fashioned, Sweet Tea, Ice Pop = SOLD. I immediately went to Target’s site and located one that carried it for $10.99. (Same price at Amazon, $13 at Ulta.)
Now back to earth, this is a Maybelline product and the quality of their shadows lately have taken a dive for the worse. Lemonade Craze is in between their old quads (better) and their recent city shades (worse) for as happy of a medium of something close to the Gigi Hadid release aka so-so.
Mattes are hard to make right, and this is drugstore quality through and through. Powdery, low pigment, requires many layers to build up which makes it hard to layer other shades on top because your lid already has 5 layers of the previous shade just to make it show up. Ice Pop is the most pigmented of the matte shades, and Sugar Coated, a metallic shade, is the best of the shimmer shades and of the entire palette pigment wise. I do enjoy the variety of textures included. Main Squeeze is pretty much a scattered suspended shimmer that makes a great topper. And if you are a woman of any kind of color, a lot of these shades will not show up well without some white base oompf. I am NC35-40 extremely yellow olive and the happy sunny bright yellow Lemonade Craze just doesn’t show up on me, even over a base of NYX Milk, but it would look great on more fair skin tones and is such a perfect shade contrast with the pink Ice Pop. I also agree with the below review that there needed to be a darker shade in the palette to make it one and done. Then again… perhaps this was the intent? Because…
Surprise ending, I LOVE the looks this palette makes! I am a fan of soft blown out halos and gradient looks, and this palette just naturally does it due to its gentle pigmentation. You can make a gradient look with just the singular hot pink Ice Pop since it requires so much building up. This shade alone was worth the price of admission for me. All the other shades meld seamlessly with each other for endless complimentary combos. Everything about this palette is Spring/Summer light hearted fun. It doesn’t take itself too seriously and neither should anyone looking for a perk-me-up after a long day of adulting.
Oh and the scent? The product doesn’t even advertise itself as scented, and I can barely smell “something” if I put my face right into it. Sad panda but perhaps a good thing for those picky with scents.

Lemonade Craze is a limited edition summer release full of pink, yellow, coral, and neutral shades to create a warm eye look. I have seen this all over You Tube and watched a lot of reviews. Opinions seem to be split on this palette. I went ahead and picked this up as I am a sucker for cute packaging and this is done well and very eye catching plus I couldn’t say no to those beautiful shimmery shades like Citrus, Sugar Coated, and Strawberry Lemonade, and Ice Pop is just such a nice matte raspberry shade. After using this, I really like the eye looks I’ve created and they are indeed very summery looking. I love the warm firey colors in this. Coral Punch is a really great transition shade while Berry Ice is perfect for blending and Main Squeeze and Sunnies are great highlight colors. Lemonade Craze, the hero shade, is the weakest one in the palette. It is a pretty matte golden yellow that appears more of a butterscotch shade on my fair skin and not so yellow. This looks decent going on and it builds up a little but it is limited in that and it does no good to try to apply a third layer. It does gives a soft look and is a great lid shade as it brings light but not highlights. However, it faded the fastest and I reapplied it a couple of hours later but it faded again to a soft golden hue so I settled for that and left it alone the rest of the day. The coppery shimmer Sugar Coated does not go on as well as I wished. It really needed a bit of work to get it show and still wasn’t as strong as I hoped. All of these shades will give a soft look to the eye and are easily blendable. I had to apply all of these with a patting motion of the brush though rather than a swipe as that tended to blend it too much into the skin. Patting the colors on was the best method for all of these. The shimmers had a little fallout and were best used with the wet brush method. You have to be careful with blending and I did have to go back and build up more color when I blended some a little too well. This is very workable shadow and I had no real problems with any of them. They are a little powdery and dry but manageable. The shimmers are softly packed and kick up easily especially that beautiful copper called Sugar Coated. The shadows are manageable and the colors worked so well together that no matter what combo I used they all created a pretty eye look. I tried different looks by dividng the palette into sections such as using only the top half one day, only the bottom half the next day, using only the left half, using only the right half, or using only the top left quadrant and bottom right quadrant, etc, you get the idea – no matter how you mix and match they work. They did tend to fade some with wear and that is with an eye primer beneath as well as a setting spray to help prolong the staying power. I wish there were a darker brown though for more definition as the color Old Fashioned is simply not enough. Definitely use a primer and setting spray to get the best application. It does not come with sponge applicators and that is fine as I use brushes anyway. This isn’t a ground breaking must have palette but it is a nice easy grab and go for some summer looks, and I’d give this a 6.5 out of 10. This will carry you easily into fall and beyond as there are many neutrals and this is such a well thought out palette. I love all the shades as far as color and how well they look on me. I’ve used this almost every day for the past month and have done a different eye look every day and have been delighted with every one of them. I’d buy it again, but I could live without it just as easily. I probably have dupes for all of these colors if I look in my stash. Overall, I am happy with it and have enjoyed using it so it’s worth the $13.99 I paid for it.
