I’ve found Far Away Gold to be very similar to the original Far Away fragrance, with the main difference on me being that the floral notes are lighter in this edition and just a bit less powdery. The vanilla also seems a little bit more developed on me, which makes the fragrance creamier and a bit sweeter then the original edition too.
Official scent notes: peach, freesia, osmanthus, orange blossom, ylang-ylang, Indian jasmine, Madagascar vanilla, sandalowood and amber.
I can’t wear the original Far Away as I find it too strong and overpowering, which sets off my migraines, but this edition is softer and much easier to wear. It’s still long lasting (about 8 hours on average) and has a strong throw, but seems less harsh and “love it or hate it” to me, if that makes sense.

I’ve worn the original Far Away for years, probably since it was released in 1995. Far Away has been one of my most complimented upon fragrances and it lands in my top 5 of all time where it will remain.
I’ve only experienced one of the flankers of Far Away and I didn’t care for it. I think it was FA Exotic. I really don’t remember it so that tells you something!
Recently a friend sent me a mini size of Far Away Gold to sample. This was a package with a beautiful variety of scents to sample during a “sharing some favorite scents with each other” exchange.
Just sniffing the sprayers Far Away Gold was a hands down choice to try first. Every time I smell Far Away it just checks 99% of my boxes. I really can’t understand why it isn’t the world’s most popular fragrance and I’m really glad it isn’t!
Far Away Gold is the twin of Far Away. Not an identical twin and not a fraternal twin.
I would call it a half-identical twin to Far Away. Half or semi identical twins are extremely rare and so is any perfume maker creating such a successful, beautiful iteration of it’s original fragrance.
Far Away Gold at first sniff appears to be just Far Away but once applied to the skin it still remains true to it’s core scent but takes a little out. To me it is lighter on the coconut although I don’t get tons of coconut from the original. FA Gold is rather just like it implies, a more golden (think amber maybe) version of Far Away.
Created in 2014, the nose behind this scent is Calice Becker.
Here are the notes from BN
Top: ylang ylang
Middle: Indian Jasmine
Bottom: Madagascan Vanilla, Woods
If you have any inclination whatsoever to try Far Away then absolutely try Far Away Gold.
This will be in my collection without a doubt and will simply share it’s permanent place at 2nd (behind L’Origan) and alongside it’s special twin Far Away. And if writing a review about a fragrance causes a lump to form in your throat, well you’d better take a moment and appreciate the significance of finding such a gem in your humble lifetime!
Simply brilliant!
