Overhyped product, does the same job as the volume million lashes from Loreal. Don’t get me wrong it’s good but if you are just looking for a good mascara just go with the drugstore version and spend the rest on charity.

Received a mini with an order. This is such a great mascara. Gives full lashes without looking clumpy. Volume and length. Definitely going to purchase the full size.

This mascara was not what I expected after reading all its praises. This was supposed to be the absolute best. I looked forward to getting long, full lashes but they don’t even look as good as they did with some drug store mascaras, and I am very disappointed. It’s so dry and thick that it would not build up the lashes to any great length. The lashes are a bit skewed and twiglike, kind of dry and crisp. It gave me black lashes without much length or volume. I was surprised at how sparse they are. By the way, it looks fine in person and in photos. Just close up you can see the little flaws. I am grading this based on the photos I took of some of my best mascaras where the look was much better than this. I’m guessing now that it only gives great results if you are very young and already have long lashes. Obviously it cost a lot, $41 plus tax so I’ll use it up, but I would not buy it again. Of the two I got yesterday at Sephora, the Marc Jacobs gave me superior results.
Update: Good news – after a long day there was no flaking at all and it looks the same as when I put it on. I had no eye irritation at all. My only complaint is that it did less than advertised. It’s still a good mascara, though not at all dramatic – it’s a very natural look – and I think I’d rather spend that $40+ on one of her luxury eyeshadow palettes next. So I’m rating it 3 stars – good but not really one of my favourites.
Update Aug 21/19: Was I ever off base with my initial review. Going by the philosophy, “it’s a poor workman that blames his tools,” I tried again. This time the results were Hollywood style magnificent. It’s all in the application. It’s Charlotte Tilbury and I was comparing it to L’Oreal. There’s no real similarity between this and any drugstore mascara. This is old school, elegant. It needs three coats all at once. Then let it dry, adjust rest of makeup, then a fourth coat. It’s then that the magnificent, brow sweeping lashes appear. And it matters what liner, shadows, blush, highlighter and lipstick you use. To get the look it all has to be right. I won’t be satisfied until I get a Nars highlighter and a Charlotte Tilbury palette. But I am now rating this a 4 star mascara. And yes it’s better than Lash Sensational or anything else but Marc Jacobs which I now rate equally.
Update Sept. 1/19: I have to update this because it is performing so poorly now. It is suddenly very wet and does not dry. It comes off above and below the lashes and creates an ugly mess. Also there’s no length, no building up the lashes. Just a black mess. It was not like this when I bought it. The formula is not stable. I don’t like it anymore and am turned off Charlotte Tilbury as a brand. I won’t be looking at any of her other products if this is the best she can do even after reformulating the mascara. Also, L’Oreal Feline performs perfectly and it was $6. This makes me never want to try a $40 mascara again. What’s the point? I’m giving this 1 star because it is worse than a cheap brand.
Please note that when I raved about it and gave it four stars I had spent fifteen minutes on the application. I can’t do that every day and if that’s required it’s not something I want to use again.
Update Sept. 13/19: I am too stubborn to throw it away and I’m still going to use it from time to time. I made it work by careful application again. I still don’t like it but it’s not the worst so I am raising my rating to 2 stars. I did get a decent look today, if I don’t count the flaking, smudging, and smearing that had to be wiped off periodically. There really are worse mascaras and I will not waste the $41! I was just realizing that there is no perfect mascara. Some are so bad I threw them out, but this one just qualifies as useful even if it is annoying.
Final update Sept. 24/19: The bottom line is that this is not better than a drugstore mascara. There is a lot of hype involved in Charlotte Tilbury products and I fell for it too. I watched her youtube videos and wanted the makeup of a genuine makeup artist. Of course I could only afford one item and I chose the mascara, and it was not all that. It’s not worth the premium price just for the brand name.

My new HG mascara. It gives me great length and volume. Easy to use and wonderfully black. I prime my lashes 1st with the Covergirl nourish mascara for definition. Beautiful!
