This is not a bad makeup remover, although I struggle a bit to remove all traces of eye makeup with it. What I don’t like about it is that it stings my eyes and causes redness. I seem to be allergic to one or several of the ingredients in it. Therefore, I can’t use it.

As much as I love Lauder products (and I have lots and lots) i just can’t get away with this one.
I own 3 full size bottles, that came with the blockbuster set I buy every Xmas, but really can’t use it. It’s useless.
1. Unable to remove makeup, I mean the lightest and slightest bit. Don’t even speak about waterproof one!
2. I though I could use to as a toner, or finishing cleansing step… no way. It has a kind of soapy thing in the formula (makes bubbles if you shake it) and if you use it as a toner it will leave a very sticky-soapy unpleasant feel on your skin, something you need to rinse off.
3. it underperfoms even compared to the cheapest micellar water I own, that cleanse more.
I really hope they think over the formula again: the way it is now, it is not workingat all.
A common drugstore micellar water is WAY more effective than that!!
Gorgeous pacakging though.

I love this stuff for removing my makeup. Especially my mascara at night. Other products remove the mascara along with my lashes. But this one is soft and gentle. I have sensitive eyes and skin and could be irritated easily but this product did it for me. I already repurchased a few times and will continue doing that. I originally got it in the Estee Lauder Blockbuster . I love the whole blockbuster. The lipsticks have become my favourites … The shadows are on the sheen side not shimmery nor matte so not really for me. The blushes and bronzer and highlight are amazing. But this remover is gorgeous and I highly recommend it. Hope you found my review helpful. If so please hit the helpful button.

The worst eye makeup remover. Even when I soak my cotton pad and leave on my eyes to melt the makeup… nothing. I still find that I have to somewhat tug on my skin in order to get the makeup off and that is a big no no. Will not repurchase and I now use this to take off my face makeup, but use another remover to remover my eye makeup.

First time user. This would not remove my waterproof mascara. Fine. The real problem is the next morning, my eyelids are pretty badly swollen, I will be throwing this away. I have never had an allergic reaction to any type of product my entire life.

Will I repurchase? Hell no, are you kidding… makeup is not decently removed an this product hurts/stings my eyes like hell.

I love Estée Lauder products but this was my least favorite it is not gentle it does remove eye makeup but it burns my skin I got this in a free gift set I would not purchase this .

Works very well to remove mascara, and doesn’t sting my eyes at all. However, it’s far too drying for the delicate skin around my eyes. I won’t be repurchasing.

This was bought by my boyfriend – he confused it with the bi-phase waterproof Eyes&Lip makeup fremover from L’Oreal. I told him I can probably use this too… But I can’t. It doesn’t remove well AT ALL, and I use only two coats of non-waterproof mascara, eyeshadow and concealer. It has no slip, so it thugs on the thin skin under the eyes. It says “suitable for sensitive eyes” – bull****! It has SOAP – A LOT of it. Just shake the bottle and watch the stuff inside it foam. I just did: it’s still foamy after 20 minutes. It was not how I found out though: some of the first ingredoents are SLS, then even more soap, then more, and even more of soap-substances. And clorhexidine! It’s for disinfection of scrapes and wounds, and even used as mouthwash…! As much as 2% of people, and 5% of those with eczema react to it. This also has a strong fragrance. It burns my eyes and the skin around them, and makes my lips get flaky.
Conclusion: horrible, horrible product. Good a lot of people don’t have it, as there is only ca one review per years since 2003

I hate this useless stuff. I bought it in the supermarket because it was reduced and I had run out, but it doesn’t really dissolve eye make-up. It just wipes it around my face, requires loads of rubbing, and about 3 cottonwool pads everytime, and I’m still left with panda eyes (I only wear a little shadow and two coats of mascara). I’ve had this for about a week and groan every night when it comes time to remove my make up. Normally I would just use up the bottle, but I’m afraid this will land in the bin.

A great budget eye makeup remover that is simply that, great on a budget.
I personally would rather spend my big bucks on actual makeup not taking it off..so this has been just fine for me. It’s not outrageously amazing but it is gentle, non oily/non greasy, feels nice, does not sting or burn or irritate skin or eyes.
This removes quite easily the majority of products. Maybe the occasional super stay put makeup, like a 24hr gel eyeliner, needs a few swipes over but even then it shifts it without being heavy handed or rubbing.
I’m not sure what people are trying to remove when they say this does not remove it, I found it works fine.
Easy to use on a cotton wool ball/pad/tips, place against opening of bottle, tip and apply to eye area. Stubborn m/u may need a wetter cotton ball or a 2nd swipe over but alwas easily and gently this works. I buy this repeatedly as I think paying for high end removers is a bit of a joke when this works fine. Maybe if you are a prof MUA then ok you might need different things but for personal use at home, this is enough.
Just wish it had a flip top cap lid instead of screw off. Minor point.

This eye makeup remover is terrible!
It took plenty of rubbing to get off my foundation, It took me almost a half an hour to get rid of my eyeshadow, and I was wiping at it so much that it stained my lids for a bit.
It cannot move mascara waterproof or not if its pathetic little life depended on it.
I kept wiping at my lashes and little product was coming off for a regular mascara, and nothing was coming off for a waterproof formula.
Plus the packaging isn’t great with controling how much product you use.
Sure it doesn’t sting my eyes, but it doesn’t do ANYTHING either.
panickyPaella8
I was looking for a new everyday makeup remover, and this definitely does the trick! No more need for high end makeup removers, this one works just great. It doesn’t sting at all (I have sensitive eyes), and removes makeup without too much rubbing.
The bottle is so nice too 😀

It’s affordable and not oily, but even if I’ve just used non-waterproof mascara and basic pencil eyeliner, I still wake up with raccoon eyes when I use this product. I’ve bought it more than one because it’s ‘good enough’, but I’m not wild about it.

Fragrance free is good. I hated the thick gel texture; it felt so cold and slimy in my eyes. It doesn’t irritate but l hated the cold shock during a cold winter, l dreaded applying it. The lid gets a bit gunky, but l liked the curvy bottle. As for removal, it was average. Just average. I don’t wear bucket loads of eye make up, but l had to put a bit of work in to get it all off. My fave is still Simple remover with the watery texture. I have had eczema on my eyelids before, and this didn’t cause any adverse reaction. It didn’t dry out my eyelids.

I don’t know if they still make this product as I could not find it on their website. I never write reviews but I felt inclined to as this was such a surprise. Someone gave me this product. I had not heard of it before and probably would never have bought it. I don’t know how much it costs so can’t judge by price. I have extremely sensitive skin and allergic reactions to things, so much so I am used to products burning or stinging or turning my skin red. This product actually works. I suppose I shouldn’t be surprised but I am because it feels SO gentle which is a relief. The consistency is perfect all I needed was some cotton pads and this product no extra water needed. I also did not need to rub which causes damage to the thin skin around the eyes. If you don’t have sensitive skin that sounds the alarm at “normal” products then you probably don’t need this, but for those eye make up loving sensitive types if you can still buy this then do. I want to try more of their products now but s quick look at Priceline Australia’s prices and it made me gulp a bit because I don’t normally spend too much on skin care.

Really disappointed with this eye make up remover.
I didn’t find it works well at all, and more annoyingly the gel formulation was just a pain to use. If you apply it on a cotton pad, the gel sits on the pad and doesn’t absorb. So you either apply a blob of gel onto your eye (having to scrunch up your eyes to stop it actually getting into your eye!) or you have to rub it into the pad then apply.
An alternative would be to apply it with your finger tips then massage.
I’ve ended up using mine as a light all over face cleanser. But even then it doesn’t really cut the mustard.

I am surprised to see so many low ratings. I have very sensitive eyes, and I was desperately looking for a make-up remover that would not make me ‘cry’ or leave me with burning eyes.
I have finally found what I was looking for with this product. I must admit I never wear waterproof make-up, so I cannot tell if it also removes this kind of make-up gently. But for removing normal mainstream eye make-up, it works very well.
For me it stands the test and I will definitely repurchase (and recommend to everyone with sensitive skin/sensitive eyes).

This product is great for what it claims to do and it is unfortunate that there are such mixed reviews here. I don’t wear any waterproof eye makeup so I can’t really comment on the efficacy of the product for that. On a daily basis my eye makeup consists of covergirl brow pencil, MAC eyeshadow, MAC fluidline gel liner and covergirl lashblast mascara. I put the eye makeup remover on a cotton pad and then hold it over my eyes (closed of course) before I start wiping away the makeup. It’s not magic in terms of dissolving all of the makeup in just one wipe. I do have to wipe gentle a few times before it is clean enough for me to feel confident that my cleanser will remove the rest. However, I also feel that if a makeup remover were to dissolve makeup really quickly, it would most likely be really abrasive and harmful to the delicate skin on my eye area and my lashes. I’m happy with this product and will continue to use it. I’m not sure if I would repurchase it though, since I feel like the Micellar lotion does a pretty decent job at removing my eye makeup already. I only bought this because I thought it might make removing my eye makeup easier, and for the most part it does, but not so much that I would call it amazing or even HG.

Should have read the review before buying….. I bought this because I wanted an alternative instead of my usual facial wipes.. Would I buy it? no…
It’s too expensive for an eye makeup remover… better invest in eye cream instead.

Fantastic product! I wear contact lenses and have sensitive skin. I use many Avene products. This eye make-up remover is gentle and it works really well. I get my cotton pad a little wet with water and then apply the remover, my mascara comes off without my having to rub my eye too much. (I do not use a waterproof mascara). I highly recommend this product! I love all of the Avene products.

HELP! THIS DOES hurt my eyes! For those who also said the same did you have to go to the ER? It’s been hurting for an hour and I’ve rinsed and I’m trying to keep my eye tearing so it washes out. Eye is almost swollen shut. I am a huge fan of EL also and very surprised/disappointed – If I have to go to the Dr. then it’s time for me to send them the bill. But I would prefer this just wash out with tears – someone input who has posted similar reactions please. thank you.

This is horrible eye makeup remover!
Got this in a travel size for free, but i would never splurge and buy the full size. It took forever and a lot of rubbing just to remove mascara, it has a weird soapy consistency and it burned my eyes so bad! I would always get too much of the product on my cotton pad since the hole in the bottle is too big!
The only good thing about this eye makeup remover is the scent – nothing overwhelming but actually quite nice.
I would definitely recommend to just buy drugstore eye makeup remover – L’Oreals Gentle Eyes & Lips Makeup-Remover is really efficient and it’s cheaper as well!

This is a great eye make up remover and I am surprised at such mixed reviews. I wear quite a bit of waterproof make up (eye shadow and mascara) and this remover did a good job at taking it all off. What I do is soak a cotton pad generously and let it sit on my eye for a 5-10 seconds to dissolve the make up before gently and slowly wiping. If you just go in and start wiping you will irritate your eyes and you will need quite a few swipes to get everything off. Then I clean my entire face with MaNara Hot Gel, a self-heating gel-to-oil cleanser that sits on your face as a hot mask for 30 seconds (opening your pores) then it turns into an oil as you gently massage it to remove make up. I use it on the eyes, too, even though I did not detect any traces of make up left after the EL remover. I like to always do a double cleanse, even for my eyes, and this hot gel is gentle enough to do that. Would definitely repurchase this, as it is gentle yet effective and hasn`t stung my eyes like other eye make up removers I`ve tried before.

Is it great? No, not really. It gets most of my eye makeup off– not all, but I’m not particular about getting every bit off. I typically wash my face and then use this to remove the MU that’s still hanging around. Some morning I still have smudges under my eyes.
What’s more important to me is that it’s basically functional, doesn’t leave my eyes all greasy like most removers do, and it doesn’t smell funny. And it’s pretty inexpensive.

This is a great eye makeup remover:
-Removes mascara, eyeliner and eyeshadow easily. Takes a bit more to remove liners like Fluidline – but no hard rubbing is required either
-Gentle – no stinging, no redness of eyes, no feeling of harshness on the skin.
-Not oily
-Great Value!!!!!! Department stores have similar products which do a similar job, but this does it as well at half the price!

After running out of my Body Shop chamomille gentle eye makeup remover, and unable to purchase more. Frantically searching through the drugstore for some thing, anything to use.
I found this, bought it, and Im very pleased.
It takes a bit longer to remove makeup than I would like, but it’s gentle, and doesnt leave any oil or grease on my eyes.
Very inexpensive, so this is a keeper!

i have to be honest. this eye makeup remover does not work. i asked the chemist for a remover that can get down waterproof mascara. she told me she’d get hers off easily with this product and highly recommended this.
well! the mascara (and even non-waterproof eyeliner) stays on! first, i thought i use it in a wrong way. but as it said on the bottle to simply remove the eye makeup with a cotton pad and the product, there can be only so many ways to do this …. i tried to use a generous amount of it. i tried soaking the pad and leave it on the eyes for a few minutes, so that i can loosen the makeup…. well………. no effect whatsoever.
but with little (to none) removing effect comes more rubbing and this i need to avoid at all costs.
the worst is: it irritated my eyes. the product has a slightly “slimy” texture, like a light gel. so it “creeps” into the eyes easily and then it started to itch and to burn a little.
and in the morning i woke up with foggy sight and quite an amount of slimy dirt in the inner corners of my eyes.
i had to rinse them with eye drops to even get my contact lenses in.
since i haven’t changed the mascara in the last year and had no problems with other removers, i blame it on this.
and for not working and hurting my eyes it is just to expensive, cost about 16 euros at the pharmacy (i live in Austria).
i now switched back to garnier’s sensitive 2-phase make-up remover.
it works like a charm in comparison and is a lot cheaper (about 5 euros but it’s 200 ml).

I use Avene extremely gentle cleanser on my face and I find it good for cleansing and not drying. However I cannot use it on my eyes as it irritates the hell out of them. Why therefore I thought that the eye make up remover would be OK I don’t know.
I bought it because I like to use products from the same brand but within minutes of using this product on my eyes I felt the familiar gritty feeling.
It’s fine on my skin it’s inside my eyes that get uncomfortable, when I blink it feels like I have bits of dirt in my eyes and it brings me out in white bumps under my eyelids.
I wear contact lenses and maybe this is why but I always take my contact lenses out before I remove my eye make up and Avene say this product is good for people that have eye problems or wear lenses.
I have used other eye make up removers and while some are more drying on the delicate skin none of them leave me with gritty eyes so I have no idea why a product marketed at sensitive skin would do this.
I have learnt my lesson now and will not be using any Avene products anywhere near my eyes. I would not buy this again.

To be honest, I am a bit surprised by the so-so reviews for this product. My experience with it has been wonderful – after sampling many different eye makeup removers, this has emerged as my favorite by far, and I recently purchased my third bottle of it. The Avene brand is specifically targeted at sensitive skin and this part of the line is no exception. I find it that completely removes my eye makeup easily, and without irritating my eyes or the delicate skin around them whatsoever. If you wear contact lenses, however, I would definitely recommend removing them before using this product. Highly recommended, and since a bottle lasts at least six months, well worth the price.
