Packaging : A classic Yves Rocher 150ml plastic bottle with twist to open cap. Nice to see this oil on rack/table as it looks very high end. There is a hole to pour out the oil and so far, there is no excess pouring out which causes wasting or spilled. The plastic bottle is tough and not flimsy or easily breakable. The little cap can be closed tightly without much effort. Overall a very pretty design for a hair oil. The words are written in French/German since it is made in France so I cannot understand what is mainly written on the label. It would be good if the words are additionally written in English for universal customers for better understanding.
Price : Not sure how much but it was bought from a France/Germany drug store quite sometime ago. They do not display it on shelf/rack. But was available when requested.
Texture : Quite light and easy to spread even though the ingredients are mostly nuts oil. Non-greasy or oily even if I use a few drops on my middle length hair. The oil itself is light yellowish colour and made of precious nuts pressed oil for better absorption into hair cuticles. Nothing much of any weird chemical ingredients from their ingredient list which is a plus if you do not want anything to overburden your hair or ‘unnaturally’ derived from chemical process.
Scent : Not perfume-y or rich of fragrance. It smells nutty and even abit weird as it does not smell that pleasant like other hair oil/serum. But once you get used to it, it should not be a big problem for this hair oil.
Verdict : I personally like Yves Rocher products although they are slightly expensive but still under a reasonable price range since their products are made in France. Just happy to imagine how pretty and scenery France is! An overall great hair oil which is made of Sunflower seed oil, rapeseed oil, castor bean oil, jojoba seed oil (great agent for moisturising to prevent dry hair), borage seed oil, babassu seed oil (has been used in many other hair oil and serum to give better nourishment for hair since it is rich of antioxidants and healthy fats) and macadamia oil (those who are a hair product junkie like me, I suppose you heard of the benefit of macadamia nuts!). This hair oil is free from silicone. So anyone who wants to avoid using silicone in their hair, this is the product which you can consider of. I usually use a few drops (5 to 6 drops) for my hair since my hair is very dry and difficult to tame. After application, weird enough that my hair dries faster than not using this hair oil. The oil is not heavy so even I use a few more drops, it does look like weighing down my hair, but after drying/flat ironing, my hair is normal (non oil slick as if I have not been washing my hair for ages) and with plenty of shine. I have been keeping this little precious for more than a year and recently I dig it out from my collection and start to give it another try. I remember I google about this oil and it is meant to be use for pre-shampoo before you wash it off during shower time. I used to follow this routine but found that it did not help much with taming my frizz or give my hair a smoother texture. Now I use it as a hair treatment after I wash my hair and the result is far more better than what I expected. I do not see any reason why this oil cannot be use as a post wash hair treatment. So to speak, it should be of a duo functions – pre-shampoo and after shampoo. But my advice is, do not apply this hair oil again after your hair is dry. It can make your hair ends up as an oily disaster. If you live in Europe, I guess this product is easily available but not if you are like me, who stay in Asia unless you can buy it through online. Worth giving a try and a 150ml shall last you for months on moderate usage. But be aware that since Yves Rocher is using pure nuts oils, there is a possibility that it can become rancid quite soon compared to other hair serums/oils which are mixed with other chemical ingredients to preserve their products.

I’m an oil junky. I use oils for hair, body and face. I have tried most it. My favourite hair oil for conditioning is pure coconut. But I couldn’t resist trying this new product because, well, I’m an oil junky. This is a good quality blend of oils including sunflower, jojoba, castor and macademia. There is an added fragrance, but it’s a very pleasant, natural smelling, kinda nutty scent.
The product is light but since it’s an oil after all, I use it for conditioning as a pre wash treatment, or use very little on my lengths, focussing on the ends, on almost dry hair, after washing. The result is smoother, shinier hair that smells quite nice. 🙂
