I truly hate this product. It stung my face and made me break out, and when I used it on my legs it dried them out so badly that they started peeling. Not a fan at all. I do love the smell and color that’s about all I have to say that’s nice about this product.

It sort of hurts when I use this on my face, so I can’t really recommend this.
I bought this because I got a bit curious about physical exfoliation scrubs, and me being me, I like to treat myself. I have to say, this isn’t really worth the money. You could probably get some nice drugstore equivalent for $5 at ULTA/Superdrug or less.
How I use it: I swirl a cotton swab around, take out about a glob, dot around on my face and then rub gently before rinsing it off in the sink. It’s rough on the face and it dries up a bit too quickly for me to take my time with it, so I sometimes mix it with a cleansing oil in order to create more slip. I don’t like to rub too hard, otherwise it gets too scratchy and while my skin isn’t sensitive, I basically feel like it’s probably not great to create more friction than necessary.
I have to say my skin is quite nice and smooth after I rinse it off – a lot smoother than even chemical exfoliation to be honest – so I can’t fault the product too much. I haven’t had any reactions or breakouts either (conversely, this stuff doesn’t really help with my acne either so meh). I also dig the scent which does in fact smell like a margarita! So no complaints there either…
So in conclusion: if you have a special event coming up, you’re not sensitive to physical exfoliation, and you want your skin texture wise to smooth out a bit temporarily, this is a nice trick to get you photo ready in minutes. It’s a bit expensive, and it smells nice, but I’m sure you can find something a lot cheaper for this kind of exfoliation.

Tl;dr: I’ve never been more disappointed in a product in my life. I decided to “treat myself” to the full-size jar of Ocean Salt last Christmas. My eyes watered a bit at the *absurd* price ($43 after tax – get over yourself, Lush), but I thought “yoloooo!” and decided to go for it anyway. I ended up HATING everything about it. For one thing, the smell was disgusting – it literally smelled like a margarita, as another reviewer pointed out. Not like some Bath & Body Works “margarita” type scent, but like an actual margarita filled with alcohol. I love a good margarita, but bathing with one? Utterly disgusting. I also found the scrub to be extremely drying and a little too irritating for my skin…it actually stung some areas. I noticed that it left a bit of a weird film when I rinsed it off, which was kind of icky. Oh, and one other thing, it looked NOTHING like the pictures on the Lush website. No fluffy, ocean-blue scrub for me – I got a weird, gray-green pasty mixture that certainly smelled like the vodka in Ocean Salt (and was labeled Ocean Salt), but it wasn’t what I expected. I make a way better body scrub at home for less than 1/10 the cost of this crap. Seriously, look at the ingredients list! There is nothing in Ocean Salt that makes it better than any other salt-based scrub on the market, and some ingredients actually make it worse (like vodka, which is a drying alcohol). It’s just a basic salt scrub. I’ve created exact dupes of other Lush products at home, right down to the texture, color, and scent, so I’m positive I can come up with a better version of Ocean Salt. It took me ages to finally use up my jar of Ocean Salt, and I disliked it every minute I used it. Total fail.

Good scrub that I use sparingly as I don’t want to overdo it. Quite gritty and rough feeling, helps refresh my skin and keep it feeling clean and exflotiated after every use. It also does tone down my redness a bit so that’s a plus. I usually use it on my face. The only con is that I can usually end up tasting this product so in that sense, you’ve got to be careful when rinsing it off. Will definitely have to try and use it as a body scrub. Also, be warned, the smell is intense oceany freshness and this will make your face, or I imagine your body too, soft.

This is great for exfoliating feet but I would never use this on my face. The salt is too coarse and there are some irritating plant oils in this that make it unsuitable for facial skin. I stopped buying it because it was too expensive, I got tired of stirring it, and the jar is messy.

I have used this product for 2 years now and I have loved it from the start! I love the coarseness from the salt and it really tackles my problem T zone. It makes my skin brighter and more manageable, I used it before my wedding to help give me that “bridal glow” and it definitely delivered! The larger container is of better value as you can get more uses out of it for a cheaper price in the long run. I have recommended this product to all of my friends who can be hard on their skin, they have loved it as well! Love this product!

Honestly Lush products tend to appeal to the animal protecting, natural loving, hipster part of ourselves. Pretty packaging, promising things, but poor results. I have dry sensitive skin, and beyond the fact that it doesnt irritate my skin and it has a pretty good smell, it doesnt exfolliate all too good. I would honestly recommend saving money and buying cetaphil/regular glycerin soap and using a rough sponge to get better results. On the softness, brightening thing, my skin aint different at all. Wouldnt buy again :/

The idea of this scrub really interested me, as I love the ocean and the beach.
Well, firstly, the smell the product had in the store was kind of nice, but after using the product at home a few times, I am disgusted by the smell. To me, it smells like dirty ocean. I’ve used it as a body scrub only, due to the horror stories from people using it on their face, and I see absolutely no difference. I wanted to love this scrub, but it was a complete let down for me.

I bought this after a skincare consultation- I got the small 120g/2.23 oz pot for about £9.00/£12.14, which is quite pricey for me. The tub that I brought home was DIFFERENT to the tester which was very good. The purchased product is green {not pale blue} harsher, coarser, more pungent and leaves a much less silky. The tester has the same label, they’re both the self preserving formula. I followed the instructions on the pot the first time- apply to freshly cleaned skin, and chose to leave it on for 5 minutes before removing. It left my skin too raw, full of red blotches and stinging (more than a homemade or other store bought rubs). The second time I used it, I mixed a little moisturiser into my skin too, but to no avail. I have very clear skin, so was very unhappy with the price and outcome.
