This works on my fine straight hair without weighing it down. It is very expensive but I will buy again because it plays well with my hair.

I’ve had a hard journey with my hair. I thought I just had bad hair, genetically. It was breaking easily, could barely stand a tiny bit of color, absolutely no heat styling, no volume, no bounce and was frizzy and poofy. About all I had going for me was my stunning shine. I hated my hair.
Ironically, luckily, I had some bad luck with a dye job at a local salon. Google reviews failed me. I asked for Kate Middleton and received Bride of Frankenstein. The dark blueish brown and streaks of green blonde were enough to drive me over the edge. I wore a hat and cried for three months.
After three months I was out shopping (for a new hat) and saw a Kevin Murphy salon. It said Walk-ins Welcome. I thought, why the hell not. Nothing could be worse than what I already had. I asked for a color correction. She did the most amazing job possible! She matched me with Kevin Murphy products: The Plumbing Rinse and Wash, plus the Restore for leave in, and my hair was instantly transformed. I had shine, bounce, moisture and better texture. My scalp has also improved. The smell is intoxicating.
I really loved the fact that the bottles are made from recycled sea plastic, and are refillable at the salon. This means so much to me. The system was expensive ($110) but at the time I was going through a bottle of OGX conditioner a week, at $10 a bottle. A bottle of same shampoo with same price, every two weeks. This totaled around $60 a month. One bottle of Kevin Murphy conditioner has lasted me THREE MONTHS so far. The shampoo even longer. I don’t need to wash or condition as much as before. My waste has reduced. My hair is in the best condition of my life. I highly recommend the investment. Make sure to be matched by a hairdresser, and always ask for samples.

Sadly, this did not serve its purpose. Have been using the shampoo only. It made my already fine soft hair even softer, no visible volume boost at all.

Awful product, I really wish I had read about it more online before purchasing.
It irritated my scalp, made my hair dry and frizzy and is full of crap.
The packaging is gorgeous but unfortunately this brand is all style and no substance.
I recently spent loads of money on this, angel rinse, angel wash, one of the masks, and killer curls. After a week my hair was in awful, awful condition. Had to get it cut!
I avoid nasties in hair products as it irritates my skin and dries my hair. Was wrongly under the impression this was a natural brand which really cared about ingredients. WRONG. They use alcohol denat in killer curls!!! This strips and dries hair and is notoriously bad for…CURLY HAIR. Clearly they don’t care about the long term effects of their products. Total trash. Also their customer service isn’t great.

I am trying the entire set of this: shampoo, conditioner and the tonic (or whatever it’s called) – I bought it from my hairdresser.
Honestly I don’t know – I have thin, fine hair and I’m not sure if it’s really making any difference. I also don’t think it does much for my hair! That, plus the strong smell that I don’t really like and the cost means that I won’t be repurchasing, though I will finish up the bottles I have.
It’s too bad because I like other Kevin Murphy products like the smooth away.

I endorse DitaVee’s review on this. I’m going to have to look into Kevin’s other ranges of rinses to see if they too have silicones. I don’t think so, because I”ve tried a few (trial size bottles) and combing out wet hair is not as easy with, for example, Hydrate Me, Young Again or Angel rinses. The plumping rinse does allow for a much easier comb-through, suggesting more silicone. The plumping rinse contains a major ingredient of Amodimethicone, which, as far as I can tell, is a non-water soluble silicone. Correct me if I’m wrong, but it takes a sulphate-laden shampoo to remove build-up of these types of silicones. And Kevin Murphy’s own washes are sulphate-free, so . . . . huh?
I will say that the balance of ingredients must be ok because it doesn’t weigh down my fine hair like some conditioners do. My hair looks shiny and sleek, attributable most likely to the ‘cone’ rather than the hyped-ingredients. And I must be a weirdo, because I prefer the scent of the plumping line to the others. But if the Plumping rinse is going to keep building up, then its a no-go, as I don’t want to go back to sulphate shampoos.
My pick of the crop so far is a toss-up between Young Again and Hydrate Me. Very glad I got hold of the small 40ml trial size bottles! Kevin, if you’re reading this, it would be great if you did a video on your website about silicones, which products they’re in, implications for product build-up, and why you choose to use them in some products. Might help us understand the science better.

I purchased both this and the shampoo as I’ve been noticing a lot of extra fall and wanted to stop things in their tracks. I used to use Nioxin, however having previously enjoyed other Kevin Murphy products I was keen to give this a go, especially as it’s marketed to women, uses the right jargon, and is sulphate free.
At first things seemed great, however I’m kicking myself for only reading the shampoo ingredients, as I would not have purchased this if I’d read the conditioner ones too. This conditioner is packed full of silicone, it’s the second ingredient in fact. Not a modern breathable one either, this is 80’s pantene cheap horrible silicone from what I can tell. You cannot miss the silicone in this stuff once you start to use it!
The first sign of something wrong was the extreme slip and feeling like I couldn’t properly rinse this out. This prompted me to finally read the ingredients and realise my error. I stuck with it because this is so expensive and thought maybe things had progressed since the Pantene days, but nearly a month later of using every 2nd day, my scalp has become so oily from the shampoo and the ends of my hair are very dry, starting to feel brittle.
Pros:
– The shampoo and conditioner together do seem to help reduce hair loss.
– The silicone in this does help detangle and therefore is going to discourage breakage
Cons:
– The scent. For me it’s far too overpowering with a sort of musky base. It smells pleasant enough unless you have a headache OR until you realise you can’t get away from it as it scents your hair for a good 24 hours plus.
– This really builds up and is hard to strip from your hair. The build up starts to make your hair feel dry over time, which will eventually make it brittle, defeating the purpose of the silicone ingredient in the first place.
– Packaging is just awful, some sort of geometric design that doesn’t even really look good, dispenses too much product and is hard to line up on your shelf. This is the same packaging as the youth / regenerating one and just wont sit flat on my wire shelf; I spend half my shower picking the bottles up and putting them back as they continuously fall over. The bottles for the hydrating set (and most other KM sets) are fantastic, so why they have to change things for this I’ll never know.
Over all not a fan of this at all and do not recommend it. The shampoo is harmless and does seem to help; this however will undo all the good work the shampoo would do.

Plumping rinse is amazing for fine hair. I have fine textured, bleached hair and my husband has gorgeous wavy, slightly receding hair and we both use the entire plumping line w/ wash, rinse, and the body.mass spray. LOVE it.

This is described as a densifying conditioner for thinning hair and was recommended to me by my hairstylist. I am using KM Angel Wash, the shampoo, but considering I am shedding hair like crazy, this was more appropriate than the Angel conditioner.
I like KM products for the sulfate-free and lux feel they leave on the hair. I like the look and feel of my hair after using this. My hair is manageable, soft and I seem to touch it a lot more because of that. I have oily hair that requires daily washing, but this actually helped a bit, and it does not feel greasy the next day.
The smell of Plumping Rinse is a bit strong, but not cloying, or so I thought. It does have staying power as I can smell it at the end of the day. And that is what the problem is. I once used Oribe’s texturizng spray, which has it’s own strong scent, and I could smell something off on my hair all day. I thought it was a fluke, tried it again, confirmed. It was not pleasant. Anyway, my DH who hardly comments on my hair or choice of products said the smell was too strong and asked me to to use it. Not the reaction one expects. So much as I like the look and feel, the smell and cost makes it fail the grade for me.
