I have two of these. The 227 is a natural goat hair brush with a similar (but not exact) shape to the old MAC 217 with goat hairs, before they changed over to the cheaper, softer, but not as good synthetic 217S. The hairs on the Luxe Soft Definer soft, much more pleasant than my (very scratchy) MAC 217. Both quickly lost their shape, with the hairs fluffing and frizzing out after a few uses, so it isn’t as precise or as useful as the MAC. Also the bristles seem quite weak and frequently snap off, so the brush is getting thinner and thinner with not that many uses. I’ve ended up with yet another Zoeva fluffy blending brush. They are not as bad quality as the 228, but still not great for the price.

The Zoeva 227 Luxe Soft Definer is such a handy, flat, and fluffy blending brush as it helps to blend a crease shadow and at the same time, keeps it into the crease. It also works as a flat eyeshadow brush, which you can use for the main lid area and blend the shadow at the same time to create an easy eye makeup look in minutes.

227 is supposed to be similar to my all time favourite MAC 217 but I find it fluffier, with longer bristles which makes it less precise. I suppose it would be nice for a wash of color on the eyelids but I prefer to pack my eyeshadow with a shader brush. Wouldn’t miss it if I lost it.

This came together with the Zoeva Complete Eye Set and it is one of my favorite brushes from the lot!
I use it the most especially when i am only sticking to one eyeshadow color for my eyes.
It packs the color nicely and i am able to blend it out all over the lid.
i would recommend this brush if you are looking forf a ‘time saving’ brush when you are in a hurry and you just need to work with less eyeshadow colors. my eye color looks great!
Other than that, Zoeva brushes are great and lasted well even after washing it. Love it!

I have the Mac 217 brush before buying this one. The Zoeva 227 bristles are slight longer and both brushes blends about the same, but maybe Zoeva 227 is a little more diffuse but both work just as great. The Zoeva 227 is slight softer than the Mac 217. When it comes to washing, the Zoeva 227 keeps its shape better than Mac 217. Mac 217 needs a brush guard to keep the shape. Moreover, Zoeva 227 is one third the price of the Mac one here. Hence, I went ahead to purchase another one.

This is such a fantastic brush I could go on forever about it. To keep this shorter, I’m going to follow suit with the previous reviewer and bullet point the pro’s and con’s.
Pro’s:
-Super soft brush that is great for blending out, applying a light wash of color all over the lid, applying a wash of color through the crease, a light brow bone highlight…you name it: a real multi-tasker
-Durable brush that has survived many washings with limited shedding
-Comparable in quality to more expensive brushes but at a much lower price
Con’s:
-Hasn’t held shape as well as I would like after washings, hairs are prone to a bit of splaying over time
-Zoeva has recently raised their prices, making it less affordable than it used to be
To be honest, the con’s have been minimal for me. I use this brush every single day. It’s even possible to get a nice look just using this one brush, albeit you might need to get a little creative. It’s a little powerhouse of a brush and my collection wouldn’t be complete without it. Highly recommend!

I can’t recommend this brush highly enough – I use it every day.
Compared to my MAC 217, the bristles are a tad longer. The brush head is less tapered and all in all thicker than the 217. I also think that the bristles of the Zoeva 227 are slightly softer.
PROS:
– It’s made form goat’s hair and it’s very soft (softer than the Lauren Luke Blending Eye Shadow Brush, hwich has excatly the same shape).
– It’s great for putting down a base colour and blending shadow into the crease, as it’s not very big.
– It’s stiff enough to pack on colour, but fluffy enough to blend edges and smoke out the look.
– It’s very well made: no bleeding, no shedding, no splaying, washes well.
– Every brush comes in its own dark grey zip-lock bag, which is great for travelling: nice touch!
– It’s very affordable (6,20 EUR), and because I use it a lot, I’ll very likely buy a second one soon,
CONS:
– Some people complain about this brush (and other Zoeva brushes) splaying. I, personally, have not had this problem, BUT I always make sure to reshape my brushes after washing them, and handle them with great care while applying my makeup with them and washing them.
VERDICT:
This is my favourite brush for my everyday smokey eye look. It blends the shadows beautifully, is well made and very affordable.
