The fragrance was super strong. I bought it to try with my super sensitive skin at the moment but it wasn’t okay for me. I started itching a little and the skin started to turn slightly red. I was really hoping it would work. Also not that hydrating in my opinion. But on another note, atm I don’t seem to be able to use anything. Mainly, I just don’t like the overwhelming scent.

This serum really hydrated my dry skin. I used it with Avene hydrance hydrating cream. Together they really hydrated my dry skin. My skin was super dry and itching because of cold weather but I don’t think I will buy them again because they caused me breakout around my mouth and chin area which I never do.

I haven’t dabbled in the world of serums, but I scored this puppy as part of a free gift. And boy, was I unimpressed.
My repertoire doesn’t extend further than the Bioderma Hydrabio Serum which specifically targets dehydrated skin. A tough competitor, as it fixed my peeling skin overnight.
Sadly, this serum fell short. It doesn’t contain fragrance, but left my skin feeling a bit tacky and not very hydrated. Not too sure if it made any difference at all.
I appreciate that it’s in a pump bottle, so no product goes to waste, but it’s made of plastic and feels cheap. I also found that I needed to use at least 3 pumps, because the consistency is so thin.
Pros
– Pump bottle
– Fragrance free
– Lightweight
– Affordable
Cons
– Does not provide sufficient hydration
Personally, I’d splurge a bit more and buy one that actually works.

This product by Avene, is formulated for all skin types, especially dehydrated. Even for sensitive skin. FALSE!!!
First off, the formulation is manly composed by water, and silicones, and other useless ingredients.
Then, this product contains perfume, a big no, no for all skin types, especially sensitive!
As a matter of fact, once applied on my face, it has stung my skin in no time.
I do not recommend this product.

The hydration this provides does not justify its £18 price tag. Like most of Avene’s range, it’s intended to be suitable for sensitive skin as well as be non-comedogenic. I wouldn’t say that it disagreed horribly with my skin, it’s more that it was entirely underwhelming – I couldn’t tell the difference in how my skin was using it and not using it. If I accidendally brushed or touched my face I’d never think to myself wow that’s well hydrated, totally worth the money – it’s just very blah and indistinct. Whereas with some other products, like this brand’s recovery cream, I do notice an improvement in skin texture. Also did nothing to help relieve minor flaking issues around my chin in winter after getting blasted by icy wind, which is what I’d originally bought it for. I thought a hydrating serum would help with this, but it just wasn’t moisturising enough.
Some reviewers have noted issues with closed comedones and acne breakouts, I personally didn’t notice this myself fortunately.
It’s quite a thin texture, slightly runnier than their light hydrance optimale moisturiser but otherwise very similar. As it’s more runny, it’s easier to spread all over the face and neck, 1 or 2 pumps was enough for me. Lasted around 6 weeks or so, using morning & evening – I really did give this product a good go as I generally like their products.
I do like the pump dispenser though, I appreciate how the majority of Avene’s products come in packaging other than jars/pots. The bottle is clear plastic so it won’t shatter if accidentally dropped, and you can see exactly how much you have left. So I do want to praise Avene on this issue even if the product itself is nothing special. I didn’t buy this again when it ran out as £18 is a lot of money for a mediocre moisturiser.

I understand that this is being replaced by a version with SPF in now, so I found this reduced to £1.70 in Superdrug. I have a problem, in that, when I see something reduced, even if I don’t need it, I can’t resist. It’s quite a hindrance because I often buy multiples of things which if I didn’t have my sales goggles on, I wouldn’t touch. The upside is that occasionally I’ll find a great product which I then go on to rebuy at full price. This is not such a time. This serum broke me out in several tiny pimples and itched. The texture felt nice and light but I suspect it blocks my pores. I’m going to put it aside until winter and see if perhaps it’s just not good for summer weather. But I wouldn’t recommend this sadly.

It is ok…. not very moisturising …but it doesn’t irritate skin

This serum is nice for sensitive and dry skin, especially when used with other Avene products like a thick moisturising lotion. It slides on smoothly and doesn’t leave too much of a sticky feeling on the face.
Although it was quite expensive and the bottle did not last too long, it did feel really nice on the skin and caused no irritation or itchiness on my eczema prone skin (serums usually do cause some sort of reaction to my skin, so for this reason I was happy with this purchase!).
Although I’d be interested in finding more serums for sensitive skin, I’d most likely repurchase this item.

I tried to insert this in my routine two Times. First I don’t see any improvement in my skin and after 2 weeks of regular use it breaks me out. My skin is irritate with pimples and dry patches. I Will finish it on my feet! Don’t Waste your money on this one!

So, I get the mixed reviews on this product. It is heavy silicone/paraffin and that is obvious with the first application. I’m not a big ‘cone fan, so that turned me off right away. But, I kept the faith, wanting to give it a fair shot since other Avene products have been great.
The first few times I used it, I applied it in the morning after my AM cleanse on days I was not going to wear makeup and noticed that my usual oily skin did not become shiny the entire day. Having used either retinoid or an AHA/BHA peel the night before, I chalked that up to those products doing their thing. Not so. I kept using it both AM and PM, when wearing makeup and when not, and after different cleansing/treatment regimens. The bottom line is this stuff is not very hydrating with no cumulative effects that I can detect, BUT this is a fabulous makeup primer for oily skin. Who would have thought?! I have had more success with this product keeping my face matte all day than with my usual go-to primers and SS – Shiseido Senka SS, Becca Poreless Primer, MAC Prep and Prime Fix +. I know many products are YMMV and each person has different experiences with the same ingredients, but I’ll keep repurchasing this for a primer and keep looking for my HG skin hydrator.
Pros:
Leaves skin feeling smooth (aka heavy cones)
Non irritating/pore clogging
Great makeup primer
Hygienic pump dispenser
Cons:
Expensive for a makeup primer (around $40)
Not hydrating
