I bought a little tube of this product to test it out and let me tell you, it works as a fantastic primer on my 42-year old skin with dry cheeks and eye area and somewhat uneven acneprone t-zone. My foundation looks so muy better! Softer and more radiant. I use the gel like product specifically as a powerful vitamin c infused primer, where it has HG status, I haven’t used it at night because I’m not sure if it might clog my pores.

This serum is one of few in my life that broke me out like crazy. Not just that, but my skin felt weird, like some sort of allergies are starting. I tried everything: to apply this serum like I was advised in the shop- beneath the cream (also Kiehl’s), without the cream, in the morning, or before bed, more product or just the tiniest amount…. it just doesn’t work. Very unfortunate, having in mind the price tag. I use many creams, form Yves Rocher, Elizabeth Arden, or high end like Dior, Lancome, Shiseido, to natural or handmade. But I don’t remember having this reaction in a long, long time.

I decided to try a c-vitamin serum, but found my sensitive and reactive skin broke out when trying some of the serums. I came over a reviewer that had the same experience with c vit serums that recommended this as a vit c serum. Omg! It started changing my skin within the week. So, not only does my skin tolerate it, it thrives on it. I use 3 pumps evening and mornings. I have combination skin so I don’t need a moisturiser. If my skin needs extra moisture I have lately opted for origins overnight moisturiser mask. In the morning I use avene’s skin tone perfector with spf 30 after applying this. My skin have fewer breakouts, almost no cystic acne anymore, and it is smooth and with less reactive redness.

The product is very thinck and it feels like the skin can never absorve it and that it doesn’t let the other products applied after that to penetrate.

This product totally changed my skin for the better.
I apply it in the evening, after my cleansing routine and before my night moisturizer. It gives my skin a real boost : gives radiance, pores are minimized, skin looks more tight and healthier overall. The effects were visible after a few days of use.
One pump is sufficient for the entire face, so a bottle goes a long way. I must admit that most Kiehl’s products let me down and do not do that much for me, but this one is to keep.

I must admit, I love everything aesthetic about the Kiehl’s Vitamin C Powerful-Strength Line-Reducing Concentrate. The application process of this Vitamin C Concentrate is so soothing, from the texture of the product to the warming sensation, it is one of the nicest application processes of any vitamin c serums I’ve ever used. It doesn’t sting at all but it just so slightly warms your skin as you smooth this over your face. This absorbs nicely yet leaves skin feeling so soft and moisturized.
This is one of the first Vitamin C products I’d ever used (along with the SkinCeuticals Ferulic + C Serum) so it does make me sad to criticize it… I really wish that Kiehl’s had chosen to leave out the fragrance ingredients that they have included in the Powerful Strength Line Reducing Concentrate. So many of the cosmetic companies think that making their product smell like oranges makes it somehow a better vitamin c product, and that just isn’t true. In fact, adding certain citrus oils to Vitamin C Serums can trigger discoloration, especially in the presence of sunlight. That is very disappointing since many people use vitamin c products to help brighten skin and correct discolorations. I highly recommend if you are using this Concentrate to use it at night or be sure to follow with a high SPF sunscreen. I really wish Kiehl’s would have chosen to leave out the fragrance. Had Kiehl’s left out the fragrance and citrus oils I would be much more likely to highly recommend this product.
There are not many vitamin c products out there that I can recommend that are as elegant and easy to apply as the Kiehl’s Powerful Strength Line Reducing Concentrate. The closest in texture is the Peter Thomas Roth Potent C Power Serum, and I love that it is both packaged well and fragrance free. Other good Vitamin C products I do use and love are: Drunk Elephant C-Firma Serum, DermaDoctor Kakadu C High Potency Evening Oil, Dr. Dennis Gross C+ Collagen Brighten and Firm C Serum, and The Ordinary Vitamin C Powder. I had a lot of hopes for this product based on liking other kilehls products in the past. However, I really don’t think this product does much. The texture is very strange, very similar to pore minimizing primers like Benefit’s, and I feel that’s the actually what makes you look like you have less wrinkles. I don’t actually think it does anything to minimize wrinkles when you’re not using the product. I’d save your money and just buy a primer.

I’m a Kiehl’s devotee and borderline obsessed with their products, and I wanted to love this so bad. I absolutely love what this does with my skin. When you apply it it feels like your skin is turning into velvet right under your hands, it’s amazing. And it truly brightens and lights up your skin. Unfortunately I seem to be allergic or sensitive to it and every time I’ve tried this, I’d wake up with swollen and tearing eyes the next morning. I tried it several times because I didn’t want it to be true, but I reacted every time. Bummer!

I am reviewing the brand’s updated serum version that has 12.5% Vitamin C and Hyaluronic Acid.
The old version might have had a few issues associated with it, however, I think Kiehl’s did a better job this time round. I am very sensitive to all things Vitamin C, but this is hands down the only serum I can tolerate.
This serum works well for all skin types, even sensitive and dry like mine. It wasn’t long before I started noticing just how much fresher, brighter and overall healthier my complexion appeared. I think this new version is a keeper. I talk more about it, same as about the brand’s Eye Cream version of the same product, in a separate review here ( for those of you who want more details. Hope it helps!

I wanted not to love it bc of the price point, but dang this stuff is good and honestly will last you for months. You need very little. When initially applied, you get a slight warming sensation which goes away quickly. I wear it in pm. I swear I see results overnight…literally. My skin looks even, brighter; just overall better. It does not add moisture to my skin so I apply over this and doesn’t affect my results. I’m down to very little and will definitely repurchase. I was asked today why I don’t have wrinkles and that my skin looks great. I think this is a main contributer.
