TLDR: This cleanser is OK, but at this price point OK doesn’t cut it for me personally. I have other, cheaper cleansers that outperform this one, thus I will probably not repurchase.
I have mixed feelings about this cleanser. On one hand, it goes a long way – a pea size dollop foams up nicely. It feels very good massaging into the skin and rinses off clean with no lingering residue. My skin also feels soft and clean after using, not too tight and dried out. On the other hand, the cleansing power of this alone is too weak to remove all my makeup. If I want to use this cleanser I have to use a makeup remover, effectively pre-washing the makeup off my face to then follow up with this. This defeats the purpose to me? I suppose you might like it if you don’t mind extra steps, or if you don’t wear makeup…
To be such an expensive cleanser, I would expect it to outperform cheaper brands, and this one doesn’t. Purity by Philosophy performs nicely with my skin and removes even waterproof eye makeup, as does First Aid Beauty’s cleanser (which honestly is similar to La Mer’s foaming cleanser in look and feel). I will probably not repurchase for this reason.

LA MER CLEANSING FOAM is a luxurious cleansing foam that does a beautiful job of removing a full face of make up and the day’s grime. It has a beautiful light green appearance and comes out fairly thick, like most cleansing foams the concentration is quite thick so only a small amount is needed to create a large amount of foam with water. It is one of my all time favourite cleansing foams in the luxury market, next to SK II cleansing foam and La Prairie cleansing foam.
The scent is somewhat sea-weed-ish not bad but not exactly pleasant either, a hint of mintiness is detected like a lot of the other cleansing products from LA MER.
A definite costly but worth it repurchase. One of my luxury staples.

It is a good, creamy, dense not too drying foaming cleanser with some added actives and the Miracle Broth (1%?). It is coloured light mint and has an almost undetectable fragrance.
The product was reformulated somewhere around 2009 and, beside adding the Miracle Broth, the soap-base was changed, at least the ingredients listing of it.
This might be a “smart” and confusing move from a marketing point of view since it might display the product (through the ingredients list) as new (and even different from other brands, including the brands under the ELC).
What they did, in fact, is that they saponify the different acids of natural origin (as Myristic Acid) by adding Potassium Hydroxide (to produce Potassium Myristate, that is soap, hence the foaming) rather than having the already saponified materials of Potassium Myristate (Potassium Behenate, Potassium Palmitate , Potassium Laurate , Potassium Stearate etc). This “gives” a more elegant ingredients list, at least this is what some might think.
The preservative system is utterly unacceptable in 2018 where there are scientific data strongly supporting the sensitizing properties of Methylchloroisothiazolinone and Methylisothiazolinone. Hence a much lower rating than this otherwise very good product would have deserved!
It is a very good cleanser with a creamy feel. However, you will be able to find a cheaper version of this cleanser form other ELC brands with better preservatives too (like Clinique Rinse-Off Foaming Cleanser).

This cleansing foam is nice enough to use except that it really stings my eyes. I like to use with my Clarisonic after removing makeup with my Clinique cleansing balm. It foams up beautifully & a little goes a long way however I find I have to first wash my eyes with my Clinique foaming cleanser. So I would not re purchase as I prefer the Clinique and its a quarter of the price and I cannot use it to wash my eyes.

I love original Creme de La Mer cream. It’s been an HG for me for several years. I’ve tried several other things from their line, and haven’t been impressed, (apart from the treatment lotion/essence).
This was a bust for me. I have dry skin, no acne, and normally cleanse with oils. A few times a week I’ll use Simple foaming gel cleanser. Both of these are super, super gentle. No stripping of the skin, no tight feeling, no damaging the moisture barrier.
I got La Mer foaming cleanser as a sample with a recent order from them. The good things are that you only need a tiny bit, a pea size, mixed with some water to get a nice foam that’s enough for face and neck. So a bottle should last forever. But it’s so stripping, so drying, and stings my eyes so badly. I’m used to using cleansers that don’t sting my eyes. My skin was left dry, thirsty, tight and uncomfortable. I won’t use it again, never mind considering re purchasing or even taking it as a free sample with my next order.
If you’ve been using this and wondering why your skin conditions are not improving, or are getting worse, it’s because it’s stripping the natural oils from your skin. You need those oils.
I’ve read online that the pH of this product is close to 9! That’s terrible, awful for your skin. Way too alkaline. Cleansers that are skin friendly have a pH of 6, or lower, to match the skin’s natural pH of 5.5-6.

I found an itty-bitty sample size in a resale.shop and it was freaking love at 1st application!! It takes a very very tiny bit to Foam and cleanse the skin and it’s absolutely wonderful wonderful. Unfortunately I’ll never buy this as I could never ever spend $90 on a.face wash, maybe if I win the lottery lol

What can I say… I love La Mer… some lovely products out there… but this one…meh. Didn’t hate, didn’t love… didn’t seem to do anything either way for me. I use other products from this company with visible results.. this was negligible at best. Although I know for some it is amazing so maybe it was just me! Worked my way through 1.5 tubes before giving it to my sister… plus the heavy cap is rather annoying… looks lovely but not too practical when you are in a hurry.

This is a nice cleansing foam but i really struggled to finish this. This is a basic functional cleanser, won’t remove heavy makeup. I still feel the Shiseido Ibuki gentle cleansing foam is much better. This is nothing special has no treatment ingredients and you can spend $10 on anything Korean for the exact same thing. This is nice but I would not recommend it for the price. Lightly fragranced, generic all rounder.

OK – I had to rewrite my review and must admit, that this is an impressive product. If used correctly.
The trick was to use a little bit more if you have hard water. and that’s it – no residue, no clogging, just radiant and glowing skin.
that is true, that it might give you this “tight-face” feeling after cleansing, but follow with a moisturizer and you are ready to go.
After cleansing my skin is balanced, a bit tight, but not dehydrated. Cleanses really good without stripping the skin, which, as I have noticed, is very important, if you live in a big city, like me. All of that natural cleansers just do not work, as my skin is intoxicated with city-pollutants, covered with layer of sebum and makeup, which mild cleansers will not take off.

A very expensive mistake!
I am in love with Creme de La Mer moisturizing cream and tinted cream, so I thought that this guy here will be a hit, not miss.
Moreover I had read so many positive reviews, and so many reviewers cannot be mistaken, right? but one’s treasure could be another’s trash :/
I am not sure, why this has not worked for me, but sadly – I tried different methods, even with got some distilled water, but with no luck.
This cleanser is a dense, light-green paste, that turns into withe foam-milk, when mixed with water. Feels good on skin, seems to wash easily, with no residue, but after you dry your face with towel, you can feel this gummy residue. terrible!
I read in some previous reviews, that the residue could be due to hard water, so I got distilled to try. However – not much difference.
OK – I decided I will try to leave with that to see the long term benefits on my skin.
And those benefits were: clogged pores\huge blackheads, increased oil production, accentuated fine lines on my forehead, the “burning skin sensation”. And when i got a pimple it just did not want to heal\dry…
Instantly after washing my face looked luminous and glowy but there was just temporary effects.
I tried the cleanser on the top of my hands, and after an hour or two – it burned my skin which why cracky and paper-like….
