Bottockfottock recommended this on the board one day, describing it as a “cool-toned plum toned mauvey pink brown.” I looked it up and had to have it, and I’m delighted that I splurged! The base is a cool-ish plum, but it’s a very complex shade that does indeed include hints of mauve, pink, and brown, as well as a very light tough of gold shimmer, but none of these overwhelm the plum base–they just enhance it. It comes in the classic, fully black case (no gold band around the middle) that snaps securely shut with a click. Because it’s the Ultra-Hydrating formula, it feels balmy on the lips. However, it’s not sheer, but not opaque–the finish is a happy medium with just a hint of shine. And the staying power is surprisingly good, given the texture–even with drinking, it didn’t disappear. Reapplying deepens the shade a bit and adds to the staying power. (In the interest of full disclosure, My lips are naturally quite pigmented and mauve-y, which probably deepened the shade a bit. Just FYI.)
Overall, I’m really delighted with this shade and formula. It’s easy to wear, can be dressed up or down, makes lips look full and soft, and has good staying power. It’s expensive ($38 as of this date), as you might guess, but well worth it.
