This “cactus green” is a dull lime green balm in the tube. Supposedly it turns “tangerine” on the lips but on me it’s more of a rosy pink, like the inside of a ruby red grapefruit. Wears comfortably like the other LQ shadeshifting lipsticks (which wear more like tinted lip balms). For a peachy shade shifter, Kara’s Mood Balm in First Thing delivers better than this. I’d still buy this again though – I do like the color on me, even if my expectations were led astray (4 lippies instead of 5 for this reason).

I love Lipstick Queen’s Frog Prince and Medieval, so for fun thought I would give Highway 66 a try. The packaging says “Cactus green lipstick transforms to a hue of tangerine.” For reference, I just turned 70, have fair to medium skin with some rosacea so I have some red in my complexion; hair is a mix of brown/gray/silver. On me, Highway 66 did not turn tangerine; instead, I got a soft medium pink. It goes on smoothly, and has good lasting power. It’s a pretty color, but on me it’s not dark enough to pop with my hair and skin; I look washed out in it. My guess is it would look good on a fair skinned blonde.
