I got the color Happy, and it is a beautiful, beautiful color. But this stuff is sheer, and I mean SHEER. I had to put on multiple layers to get it to even show up, and I’m pretty light. Kind of defeats the purpose of something that’s supposed to be quick and easy. Ended up returning it. I gave this 3 stars because while it didn’t work well for me, the quality of the product and the packaging is there.

This review is for the LE holidays 2019 shade “Ecstatic” available at Blue Mercury.
I’ve avoided cream or gel blushes in the past because I felt they were difficult to apply well. Now that I’m forty the common advice seems to be that cream formulas apply better than powder, and I’m in the middle of a love affair with CHANTECAILLE, so I took the plunge and picked up the holiday 2019 LE set that contained this blush and lip veil in “African Daisy.”
Ecstatic is a raspberry shade and I felt that this was probably not an ideal first purchase as the color might be too bright on my fair skin. Not to worry. The tube has a very fine tip that allows you to squeeze out tiny amounts of a pearlescent mousse. It is easy to blend and strikes the right balance between color payoff and sheer finish – as long as you use this sparingly you should have no trouble. It is incredibly natural. My poor powder blushes are lying neglected in the drawer now. Right now the regular line offers a limited shade range; hopefully this will become a permanent addition to the line.

Officially, the full name of this is “Chantecaille Hydrating Gel-Cream Blush,” and that’s quite accurate. This product is what I thought Benefit Dandelion Dew would be, instead of the opaque, Pepto-pink mess it turned out to be. It is packaged in a squeeze tube, and it the amount you want comes out easily and accurately–no bursts of product flying out of the tube and onto you, your clothes, or your mirror. It does indeed have a gel-cream texture–very light, almost mousse-like–is easy to blend and layer, and there is no scent. It feels almost cool to the touch, and although I don’t find it particularly moisturizing, it’s not drying (nor does it look dry), either. Happy is the pink shade (Lovely is the peach), yet straight out of the tube, Happy looks peachy-pink. Once applied and blended, though, it looks (on my NC 15-20 skin) almost exactly like the original Benefit Dandelion–a light, beautiful, and flattering cool pink with very fine shimmer that’s only visible in direct sunlight (otherwise it looks like a beautiful, natural glow). It is creamy on the skin for a minute or so before it dries down, so there’s plenty of time for blending. However, it’s very sheer–even if you’re fair-complected, you might want to apply a second layer, and if you’re darker than NC 20-25, it may not show up on you at all (or it would make a beautiful highlighter), so don’t expect heavy pigmentation. The wear time is very good (I had no fading for 6+ hours in 100+ degree heat). For me, this is the perfect summer blush. Being Chantecaille, it is pricey–$44–but the tube holds 0.8 oz (20 ml), which is a lot of blush, even if it’s sheer. Happy will probably be my go-to blush this summer, and I would repurchase.
