Another fantastic little gem by e.l.f. I purchased the shade Neutral Brown which is exactly that, doesn’t pull too warm or too cool, it is definitely neutral. Quantity wise, it is about half the amount you’d get in either NYX or theBalm brow pencils but the price is 50% less so it’s appropriately priced. The pencil is not too soft, not too hard and super easy to work with. I really dislike when a brow pencil is TOO smooth and you end up with an over abundance of product with no effort and then have to clean up the situation. I have no trouble with this lasting all day long. It pairs well with the e.l.f. Wow Brow Gel too. I’d rate this 4.5 out of 5 if half lippies were an option.

Previously I was big on using powder for my brows (Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Powder Duo in Dark Brown) but recently I got into using pencil to fill in my brows, and am absolutely loving this in Neutral Brown for an everyday brow (thanks Roxette Arisa from YouTube for turning me on to this wallet-friendly option). I use this along with the e.l.f. Cosmetics Wow Brow Gel in Neutral Brown and find that I have good brow days with that combo. Price is definitely right, and I will be repurchasing once I am done with the one I got.

I have this in Neutral Brown, and it’s definitely the most neutral brown brow product I’ve tried so far (I’ve only used drugstore brow products so far). It does still pull a little warm/red, but only slightly. That might only be noticeable for me because I do use a lot of this stuff to fill in sparse areas. I have naturally pretty thin and sparse brows, and I have a mix of blondes, brown, and a few reddish hairs in my brows, so finding a brow product that makes them look good is a struggle.
This is a little pricey for an E.L.F. product (I think it’s around $5), and I feel like if you use it daily, you’ll probably blow through it pretty fast. I only use it a few times a week and I’ve had mine for about a month and still have a lot of product left. I’m guessing one pencil will last me 2-3 months, which isn’t bad, I think.
I really love how thin it is, and that it’s not super creamy and pigmented, so it’s easy to make your brows look natural (meaning maybe you used a product, but weren’t literally drawing on brow hairs) while adding some definition and filling in places. My brow tails are super thin (literally like 1-3 hairs), and it’s been a nightmare trying to find a brow product that doesn’t look obviously drawn on for that area. This one only looks like I drew it on if you get super close to my face. Even from only about a foot away, it looks pretty natural. This is the first pencil I’ve used that I can actually do the little brow hair strokes and it doesn’t look unnatural and heavy.
The spoolie end is nice, and probably my favorite that I’ve ever used. Most are a little too fat or long for my brows, but this one is perfect, and small enough to even brush through the tails of my brows without smudging product all over the place.
I love that this stuff doesn’t move around, even though I don’t set my brows. I live in a pretty humid place, and it’s summer time so it’s super hot, and this hasn’t budged from my brows except when I remove it at the end of the day. I can even run my finger over my brows and not end up with brown streaks on my face. It’s weird, but awesome. (If you do get product outside the brow are though, which I’ve done while rushing through getting ready, it’s super easy to clean up.)
If I buy this again, I might try the cooler toned one (Cool Brown, I think), or maybe that one and this one to use at the same time.
Basically, I think this is great if you don’t want to use a ton of product on your brows. If you like a lighter application just to fill in a bit, give it a try. If you prefer more dramatic brows, you’ll probably go through this super fast, and I’m not sure it would really work well for that purpose anyway.

This is a nice brow pencil if you need a very small tip and a lot of specific definition. The pencil component is a bit thin if you compare it to their white instant lift $2 pencil (which I like) but I find the black sleek pencil gives a higher end look to it. If you have patches that need good filling in, this will take a lot of strokes to fill because the tip is small and thin, which makes me wonder how long one pencil will last. (3 lippies). But for going in to define parts after you use a brow mascara to fill larger spots, its great. Especially if you need a very fine line to define the tapered ends or tail of your brows. They also have some different shades, including a cool brown, which I would like to try. The shade I grabbed at my local store is neutral brown, which is true to its name. I like a very dark but ash brown brow, and neutral brown is right down the middle, not too red, not too ash. But if elf has a sale, I’d like to try cool brown. For $5 its not bad. I prefer their $2 one more just because its not as thin, and their brow wax kit much more. But elf’s brow section is great if you dont want to spend a ton of $$$.
