Well, here I am, back on MUA after a long hiatus. I had to come see if anyone had reviewed these lipsticks. I have bought every color from each of the 3 releases (except for Love of My Life, which I knew wasn’t my kind of color). All the colors are beautiful and work well on my NC 23 skin. They are a little drying but better than most any other matte lipstick I’ve tried (Huda’s also work great for me). I was hoping that I could just buy Lisa’s lipsticks from here on out and have the perfect little lip wardrobe and not have to fuss around looking for the perfect version of whatever color. Well, every single bullet I have used has broken at the base. Every single one. The first 3 reds, I thought I just had bad luck. I emailed the company and they replaced them all, which was very nice. I took a chance with the pinks and nudes collections, but the same thing has happened! I am 48 years old and have been wearing lipstick for a very long time. I have never had a brand do this to me before and it’s very aggravating and disappointing. I love Lisa and think the world of her but I’m afraid I’m going to have to steer clear of her collections from now on.

I bought the set with Velvet Ribbon, Velvet Muse and Velvet Decade. Being a long time viewer of Lisa’s videos I was keen to try these and knew she would only release a high-quality product. They didn’t disappoint, but bear in mind you need to love matte lipstick to enjoy these. If you prefer a satin or moisturising finish these obviously aren’t going to work for you. I’m the sort of person who prefers having just a few products that I love and are versatile than having the sort of collection where I can’t see everything at once, and these have taken over my colour cosmetics routine completely for the last couple of months. Ribbon is the perfect classic red in one swipe, not as drying as Ruby Woo and easier to wear during the day than Russian Red. Velvet Decade, a chocolate brown, looks difficult to pull off in the bullet but the clever red and mauve undertones seem to make it easy to wear even at full opacity. I like it best as a lip stain though, really chic with a 90s vibe. It also looks amazing as a blush and even on the eyelids. Velvet Muse is my perfect neutral, easy-to-wear lipstick to have in my bag at all times. It’s perfect as both lipstick and blush, pulling slightly warm on me and slightly more orange than pink (which I prefer). All in all, worth the £75 I spent, which granted seems a bonkers amount of money to spend in one go on lipstick, however all three of these will be used until they run out.

I was influenced by Lisa’s and another make up designer videos promoting this lipstick. I regret my purchase. Wish I could return the two Velvet lipstick (Velvet Jazz and Velvet Fawn) and get my £52 back. I have better, more suitable colors and better texture from other designer brands (cheaper too). An online purchase without trying is always risky, Lisa should also sell some testers.
Pros: nice packaging – simple and practical, good size, velvet appearance. Cons: too expensive. Velvet Jazz is too dark, darker as on videos and pics, suitable for a night only and would suit only a younger person with perfect full lips. I also tried to apply with a brush or mix with Velvet Fawn but did not help. Velvet Fawn is just an average matte nude type of lipstick, nothing special. Won’t buy again.

I love Lisa and watch her videos religiously. However her lipsticks are average. I was specifically disappointed to see that 2 of my purchased lipsticks (velvet Ribbon and muse) broke within 10 days of use. I like the colours and textures. That’s why I don’t give this product the score of 1.

I have always waited for the day for Lisa to start making her own makeup and these lipsticks are absolute perfection.
These Velvets have a soft-matte finish, they are quite opaque, but can be easily sheered out. I do recommend exfoliating and slightly hydrating your lips beforehand though, to achieve the most seamless application and as a result – great wear.
These do last for a very long time, especially if you apply them in layers using a brush. Colors are unique and special, considering that most of them were inspired by different eras in makeup history. If you love a classic lipstick, this is the one.

This review is for Fawn, Muse, and Decade. I have been wearing them for the last two weeks and playing with different applications. The easiest to wear and the ones that I would repurchase are definitely Fawn and especially Muse. Fawn is certainly a 90`s nude, the kind of lipstick that I used to admire on the supermodels back then, and steal as often as I could from my mom`s vanity. It`s an easy every day, lipstick that I would pair with darker eyes in the daytime or just for a weekend, for a no make-up makeup look. Muse, is by far my favorite. A few years ago Givenchy came out with a limited edition lipstick in a golden faux leather bullet called Rose Brunne. I adore that lipstick, I have worn it so much and even now I still keep the bullet to dig out what is left in there. Muse reminds me of that color, but a slightly muted, matter version of it. This would be my every day go to lipstick, even more so than Fawn, because it is a bit deeper and adds more color to my sallow winter complexion, but not too much color to make it look overdone. Velvet Decade is not something I would have gravitated towards, as it is a really dark, chocolate brown shade with hints of blueberry. As a stain, I love it: it is a bit grungy, but in a sophisticated way and it`s great for this season. What surprised me is that I can even wear the full on color, but for my complexion it has to be paired with black or dark clothing and for lips as thin as mine, definitely a lip brush is a necessity. I have even used Muse and Decade as blush, and they work great on the cheeks, too. The velvet effect is certainly cool, but for me, if these lipsticks were not versatile and did not perform well, I wouldn`t much care for it. Would I repurchase? Muse, definitely. It`s such a beautiful everyday color. Fawn, maybe if it wasn`t matte. While these lipsticks are certainly more comfortable on the lips and a lot more forgiving than other mattes I have tried in the past, they do take a toll and even though I moisturize and take care of my pout, I can still see crumbs developing after a few hours. They are not so long lasting, either, and you will definitely need touch ups, especially after meals. That doesn`t bother me, because I love applying my lipstick: it`s just such a calming ritual. Decade, I like, but considering that I mostly use it as a stain, it will probably last me a long time. I would love to buy Myth, which was, unfortunately, sold out. I wish Lisa would consider making creamier versions of these, as matte lipsticks are not exactly my cup of tea, especially for lighter shades.

I was expecting a lot from this lipstick, but I found it disappointing. Of course it does not stick to the teeth, none of the high end matte lipsticks do. The color is lovely, a cross between Ruby Woo and Russian Red, the texture is similar to the MAC matte lipsticks, that is not particularly moisturizing. However, it is very long lasting, stays put through food and drink. As for the packaging, I find it too big, not as stylish as say, Chanel, Dior, Nars, etc.

Lisa is a renowned makeup artist and her lipsticks are just to die for. They don’t transfer much and don’t get on my teeth. Every lipstick I have EVER tried has gotten on my teeth and I hated it but not these, something about the formula in this is just great.
I also have very dry lips and something like Rubywoo by MAC dries them out even more, not these though. I have never seen anything like it, all the naysayers and negative reviews here have not much to say that is negative about these lipsticks which should tell you a lot! Yes, they are expensive, they are a luxury brand. But the formula and colours more than make up for it. I am in love, I have 5 shades so far and will be getting more when they restock.

I missed the 1st release but jumped on the 2nd; I have an unhealthy obsession with red orange lipstick and Velvet Morning was perfect. I usually gravitate to Charlotte Tilbury (Tell Laura) and it’s (LE) a bit drier in comparison.
It’s a matte but not terribly drying and the lasting power is insane. The color swatches online are very true to life and I wasn’t disappointed. However, there are a few caveats:
It tends to stain the lips after removal which is a bit of a pain. The price is up there with Givenchy and YSL and not certain that it warrants the hefty tag. The limited edition aspect to me is over played; I get that it’s a well used marketing scheme but given her reputation she would sell just fine regardless.
Overall I like the lipstick and Lisa is one of my favorite MUAs so I feel comfortable supporting her. She’s very professional and I like her artistry as well. Is it ground breaking? No. Are there other options which are cheaper/similar quality? Yes. It shipped very quickly from the UK and was beautifully packaged in sustainable cardboard which she suggested to recycle. The lipsticks are also cruelty free.
