   Not the best color for my cool, pale, skin tone. I bought this because CVS was having a buy one get one half off sale. I love Rimmel lip gloss so I picked up Stay Glossy in Purple Parlour. The pickens were slim in the Rimmel display and this was one of the only lipsticks left. Amethyst Shimmer is not my usual bright pink color so I thought “what the heck”. It’s wearable but I have to add a pick lip gloss over it to punch it up. I’m so pale that a lot of darker colors make me looks like a corpse.

   The formula is pretty good, it’s not too slippery and the lasting power is good. I reapply lip products all day long so I never expect anything to last all day long. Reading through the reviews I’m surprised that some people remember this from decades ago. Is that possible? I’m not loyal to one color, ever. Companies are always coming up with the newest and the brightest products so why keep buying something you wore decades ago? This color really is not my best look so for that reason alone I will not repurchase.

   I just discovered this color a few days ago. I love it so much, I went out and bought another tube. It’s a very comfortable and smooth formula and the color brightens my face. I have silvery hair and cool skin tones. Mauves and plummy colors look best on me and this is a good one.

   Love, love, love this color on me. I wear it over a sheer balm and it slides on beautifully. The color is flattering to my pale pale face. I have several stashed. (Yes, I am old, but I don’t like to look it)

   I am no doubt betraying my age when I disclose that I first bought this lipstick 28 years ago! It is an 80s classic – violet-pink and slightly frosted. I am giving it three lippies purely for nostalgia, but to be honest it never really suited me then and it still doesn’t.

   I didn’t expect to like this shade. I had looked at it many times in the tube and thought it was a pretty color that would not be so pretty once you put it on due to the shimmer. However, this did not make me look as elderly as I expected! The shimmer is there, but it doesn’t scream retirement home. The color is bold against my very fair skin, but in a pretty, wearable way. I’m glad I bought this after lusting for it for so long!

   I broke my no buy for this and it was worth it! I notice this is a favourite with medium/olive/darker skintones but it works beautifully with my paler complexion. Somehow it really livens up my face. A great colour for the Autumn/Winter. I apply it full on, no dabbing for me! I got lots if compliments for it.

   Now for the not so good (but not disastrous!). I find this a little dragging when applying it. It lasts reasonably well but is quite drying when it wears off. Still not enough to put me off wearing it, repurchasing or recommending it to other people.

   Favorite lipstick, I wear this almost everyday, I do blot it down tho, so it’s more of a stain than really lipsticky looking, but still great. I have very yellow undertoned skin and never knew what colours would work on me, but this is perfect.

   Edit- they changed the formula! it is waxier, less pigmented, a bit drying! before it was perfect! why??!?! i have 2 backup tubes to compare my recent (3rd) tube to, and there is definitely a difference. —

   It is a beautiful violet-pinkish colour that is the perfect balance of subtle brightness–elegant, not too in-your-face, but not dull either.
   The best thing is it has this subtle iridiscence and duochrome effect… Very subtle but it’s there. It really lifts the face and looks gorgeous.

   I love this color, it looks great on my medium/tan skintone and is not overbearing, could work for a night or day look. The staying power isn’t great but definitely above average for a drug store product. Love this!

    Rimmel lipstick in amethyst shimmer is a frosty girly pink not dark not light,because of the fost it has quite good staying power so you stil have a slight stain even when it wears away,i use this colour mailny in the summer as it looks great on brown olivey or tan skin tone.
