   I just finished using this for the second time, and before rinsing my hair i was going to give it a rating of 3, but for now I will give it a 4 because I do notice some toning. Realistically I’d give it 3.5.

   The biggest pro is, of course, that it can be used in multiple ways. I don’t like washing my hair with toning shampoo, on one hand because I don’t think they are all that great for my scalp, and on the other hand I prefer using shampoos meant to do specific things (moisturize/thicken/reduce hair loss/whatever else). I’m not crazy about toning conditioners either because I like to leave conditioners or masks on for a while, to do their job, but if they are also toning I can’t leave them on too long, or my hair would turn purple. So adding these drops to whatever shampoo or conditioner I happen to be using is a great, convenient way to tone.

   Another pro is that they can be also added to leave-in conditioners, styling products and even oils.

   Now on to the cons, the biggest for me is the amount of drops I need to use to actually see some toning. The first time I used this, I used only 3-4 drops in my conditioner and there wasn’t much toning. This time, I used 6-7 drops in my conditioner and 4 drops in my leave-in, and I do notice nice toning but no purple hues or anything. I get much better toning with Fanola shampoo or any other purple shampoo, for that matter. So given how much product I need to use to see results, I will go through the tiny bottle very fast. Which brings me to the other con – the price. The little bottle is mighty expensive, I paid $38 for it and it will last me…maybe 2 months if I’m lucky?

   If the product was cheaper, or the bottle bigger, I’d probably repurchase, but for now it’s a no. I get similar or better results with my regular routine (first wash with my own shampoo, second wash with Fanola, leave it on for 5-7 minutes, rinse, condition, rinse), and it doesn’t cost me that much and it lasts months.

   So a big yay for an innovative product, but for now I will not repurchase it.

   I’ve got blonde highlights and live in a city with hideously hard water. So my hair can go brassy quickly. These drops make a measurable difference in keeping my blonde ashy and letting me stretch the weeks between salon toning visits. I add them to a hair mask when I deep condition and/or to a styling cream or even hair oil when I wash my hair.

   The only product that will tame the inevitable orange in my died blonde hair. Quick, easy leave in that works with whichever product you’re already using. Game changer.

   I LOVE this stuff! I’ve been a bottle blonde for over a decade, so I have been fighting brassiness for some time. This a bottle of highly pigmented purple toning drops you add to any product: shampoo, conditioner, masks or leave-ins. You can add a little or a lot (from one to five drops), depending on your needs. I typically add at least two and mix with a leave-in such as Oribe Supershine cream or Bumble and Bumble Save The Day fluid. Purple hair products usually smell awful, but this has a lovely fragrance exactly like the IGK Hot Girls conditioner. It’s a soft tropical scent with notes of guava, coconut water, pink lotus, midnight violet, and vanilla. My color always looks wonderful when I use this. Brilliant product.

   I have platium/silver hair and I have tried various purple shampoos and conditioners and ALL of them are drying. A friend who is also platinum was raving about these so I ordered them from Sephora. At first I was confused about using them. You can mix them into hair care you regularly use, like blow out cream or leave-in conditioner. I wasn’t sure how this would work because they are a deep purple and I was imagining weird purple stains in my hair, but it worked beautifully. They took a lot of the brasiness out and gave me a cool, white silvery tone. These seem to do a much better job than a shampoo. The packaging is also very cute-you push the bottom of the package and the drops squeeze out. These are $29 but I imagine they will last awhile and you won’t overuse product the way it’s easy to do with a shampoo or conditioner.

   I’m going to begin a series of reviews on products to enhance cool, platinum tones in blonde hair. Most of these products will be anti-brass. I am trying EVERYTHING. My hair is fine, wavy, blown out every other day, and colored using a 7a base with extensive blonde fills to a 10a highlighted effect. As anyone reading this knows, that great ashy tone is tough to hang onto, so in between salon appointments, I turn to color enhancing toners. I’m after deposit only, temporary toning. This will not cover the Wella toners; they’re actually color, and my hair stylist has forbidden me to touch that anymore. I’m after things that make the hair shiny, don’t weigh it down, and don’t give dull, charcoal tones. So, here we go……

   IGK is a cool-girl line of hair care sold at Sephora, and founded by a bunch of cute hipster guys with beards and tattoos. This product is a GREAT idea. It’s a little bottle of super-concentrated purple drops to add to your regular products to up the anti-brass factor. (Like those Little bottles of concentrated flavor you squirt into your water.) I’ve only used this one way, and it works very well: I add it to my spray-on leave in detangler, either The Honest Co or BTZ Smooth Criminal. You press the rubber button on the base of the vial and drops come out, so it’s very easy to control. The great thing about this product is that it doesn’t change the original product at all-just enhances ashiness. You could add it to anything. It’s $29 at Sephora, so expensive, but a little goes a long way. I will repurchase.
