When I was younger, I was prescribed Duac gel for acne (clindamycin + BP) and it worked great for me. After my Duac bottle expired, I made the mistake of believing I was sensitive to BP and quit using it together. 10 years later, after having tried every other acne treatment in the book (azelaic acid, retinol, sulfur, etc.) to no avail, I finally decided to re-try BP. This stuff is amazing. Within about 3 weeks, about 80% of my hormonal acne had disappeared. I loosely follow the Acne.org regimen (applying a generous amount of BP to entire face nightly), and have been so impressed. I prefer this product to the Acne.org brand BP as this one does not contain Butylene Glycol, a common irritant/pore-clogger for acne-prone people. I love the 2.5% formulation as it seems just as effective as 5%/10% formulations but I get no irritation at all.

Ok, so I found this on Amazon. Wasn’t sure what to expect but I was tired of paying the high price for Paula’s Choice and I’ve had difficulty finding a BP drugstore product with a low percentage. I’ve found that a combination of salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide work best for me on a regular basis but they have to be small concentrations.
Pros:
Low percentage means I can use daily to head off breakouts before they start
Very very light scent (not perfumey)
Bottle lasts a long time because you only need a small amount of this (less than dime-sized blob works best for me)
Pump is super-convenient
Price is RIGHT
This worked well for me – kept me clear and quickly dries out any nasty zits that may be lingering
Did not bleach my towels or sheets (I’ve always made sure it has dried well before bed, though)
Cons:
Have to buy online
Some small stinging after application (maybe not the best choice for those with sensitive skin)
Doesn’t always dry clear, probably best for nighttime use
Can be drying, you’ll need a moisturizer
Check out the price comparison though, because that was the big thing for me:
Paula’s Choice CLEAR 2.5% Benzoyl Peroxide Regular Strength Daily Clearing Treatment costs $18.00 for 2.25 oz.
Dr Song is the same basic product but it’s 8 oz. for $13.98 + $4.99 shipping. That’s the same basic price for almost 4 times the product! In my book, that makes this product a real winner.
I will continue to purchase and hope that maybe the Dr Song company will put out more products that are effective and reasonably priced.
