I didn’t like the scent — but I don’t like vanilla candles. I don’t like candles that smell like food. I didn’t burn it — gave it away. If you like vanilla you might like this. Kashmir also has too much vanilla to me — but other scents too that make it better than Madagascar.

Beautiful high quality candles in very sophisticated scents – this is my favorite candle brand! And MADAGASCAR is one of my fave scents – it’s not sticky sweet like a lot of candle scents, it has more depth than that. It smells like vanilla and caramel and then there’s a floral note that makes the scent even more complex. Very sensual and earthy, and the aroma fills the room only a few minutes after you’ve lit the candle. Also, you can usually get some scent from the Archipelago Candles just by having them in the room – they dont’ even have to be lit! These are the best, and well worth the few extra dollars. Beauty First usually has a good selection!

Love Madagascar! Sniffed this at the local Whole Foods and was just delighted and bought it immediately. Unusual for me as I’m fairly picky about scents. This is very sweet, but has a warm earthiness that keeps it from being too cloying. The candle itself is nicely fragrant and I can sometimes detect it when I’m sitting nearby. The throw is not good, however. It’s much more subtle than I’d prefer and I’m kinda surprised as the candle itself is pretty well-fragranced. I bought the 6 inch pillar for about 8 USD, which isn’t bad, but isn’t a great bargain either, given the particulars. But I do love the scent enough that I’d buy another one. If only they’d come out with a perfume or body lotion in this scent…

I love this candle! The scent reminds me of Chopard’s Casmir – a very deep, rich vanilla without being too foody. It makes my whole house smell wonderful.

I don’t agree with how far this scent throws. I most certainly notice it in a room. Plus, it is far more decadent, sweet, and dessert-y than some of the cleaner fragrances so you don’t want it to be TOO heavy in a room and make as far as you can detect smell of butterscotch sauce. It is highly unique as far as fragrances go as well.

I agree with the previous review. This smells wonderful in the jar, but is a major disappointment when lit. I could barely detect the scent after it had been lit for several hours. I’ll pay a little more and get my tried and true Votivo.

Mmm. This is a gorgeous fragrance – in the glass. For some reason, I love this scent for the fall, although the fragrance is composed of scents that usually remind me of spring.
This candle is disappointing because the scent isn’t thrown very well – barely at all. I can’t really tell when this is lit – not a strong frangrance when lit. This is composed of white orchid, vanilla, freesia and jasmine essential oils.
