This is a beauty steal. I saw that there were testers at Ulta and thought: Why not? This is a lovely little lipstick. The black package is elegant, if also plastic. The product itself is a wonderful sheer neutral red. I call it my “training red.” I love a bold red lip on others. I’m just too chicken to do it myself. Someday… This actually reminds me a little bit-formula-wise–of the LQ Saint lipsticks. By this I mean the color is sheer but sort of buildable, slightly glossy, there is no shimmer, and the texture is smooth. The Essence lipstick is a little bit more slippery, though, and there is a berry scent to it. I would have rated this a 5 if it had not been so fragranced. I bought one of these in a rosy brown shade for a friend and she loves it. The shade range is sadly limited, but is to be expected from a budget brand. Maybe they’ll add colors or edit what they currently have, which tends towards bright pink. There are a real value for the price.
