I wanted this every since I first heard about it being released exclusively the Sephora 212 store. But even when it became available online, I just couldn’t take the plunge. I’ve heard some people say it is really ugly, and not seeing it in real life makes it hard to judge. Also $OPIs are $9 each, which I think it just ridiculous. First of all, why are they more then regular OPIs? And even still, I have a general rule of thumb that I won’t pay more then $5 for a nail polish. I am an avid collector and nail board regular, and I can buy salon brands for around half price from e-tailers, sales, and I have a local salon supply that sells salon brands for even less then the e-tailers, so it really seems high compared to what I am used to paying. However, I was ordering from Sephora online to take advantage of a promo and needed exactly $9 to get free shipping. I took it as a sign and ordered.
So, I get it in the mail, and when I opened the box, I was INSTANTLY EXCITED! I knew I was going to love it right away. I have around 600 nail polishes, and nothing is even close to this!
The color – it’s a black brown base. It has multiple kinds of shimmer: there is a small-ish shimmer, larger pieces of holographic glitter, and flakes like that in the much coveted Sally Hansen hidden treasure all mixed into a jelly black-brown base: all things that would make any NBer weak in the knees! Some people descibe it has hacing a greenish tinge, but I don’t see that on me. The flakies reflect sort of ornagish, making it look a little warm. It is pretty dark, so at first it looks black, but when you look at is closely, it clearly is not. I wore it to work and my students (who are so cute!) decided it is like a very dark bronze overall. I think that is a pretty good discription as well.
The wear – I wore this the week that I taught a week of sewing camp with the kids. I use my hands A LOT and nail polish lasts about a day when I do this because I am pinning, seam ripping and taking machine apart. This did not chip at all. after about 3 days I did have very noticable tip wear, but it was easily touched up. The pic I posted above is on day 4, when I touched up the tips and added a Konad design, and I dont think you can tell I did any touching up at all – I really like that.
The packing – meh. not a fan. I prefer the standard OPI bottle shape and pro-wide brush. The handles on these I find are awkward and feel like they are cheaper then the standard OPI bottle – which doesn’t makes since, again, because they cost more. Also, the brush on my is really unruly! There are a few that stick out, I might exchange it for a new bottle.
Overall, I think this a beautiful polish, with great wear-time that is truly unique. I think it should be in any die-hard polish addicts collection. Just wishes it wasn’t so overprices and that the packing was better.

Did Sephora bring this color back for fall/winter 2010? Anyway I picked this up a few weeks ago. I dunno if it’s been reformulated since 2009, because it doesn’t seem to have such an obvious greenish cast like the photos on here show. It definitely looks black/very dark gray in the bottle, but on the nails it looks like a smokey gray with a tiny hint of olive green. Regardless, I do love this color – it’s unique and the glitter is quite pretty, especially in the sun. Application was smooth and it dried pretty quickly. What blew me away about this product is how long it lasted… I literally went nearly 9 DAYS without ANY chipping. I mean, not even a hit of tip wear! This is like industrial strength polish! Downside is, of course, it was a pain to remove. But if you’re looking for a low maintenance polish that will last forever, this might be it. It’s probably great for vacations!

Ok as to the ummm highly hautey reviews saying this is not a polish for women- well this woman begs to differ. Fortunately while I receive all the mags and reads the blogs , I am no slave to trends. I tend to have my own opinions on how I fashion myself. I am 34 and adore this color. Whatever the base color genuinely is, it appears to have a greenish cast and is refreshingly complex. Good job on this one! I was saddened by the lack of showy glitter in my MAC F/W forecast polishes so this was gratifying.
