I totally agree wit Paschat below.
This is a unique fragrance and a must try for the ones that, like me, love “Angelique Encens” and oriental, sensual frags in general.
Tolu is a bit more peculiar than AE.
Starts off fresh and basamic on the juniper note, and mantains this freshness and transparency all the way through.
It becomes powdery soon (amber the resins) but still has a distinct note of exotic land, and this fresh, balsamic note You cannot tell the flower notes distinctly, although you guess there is some powdery rose in it.
A gorgeous one, mysterious, but only if you have the allure and personality to wear it…
This is not an easy going one! the risk is that this perfume wears you instead of the contrary.
EDIT: this has soon become on of my favorite ones. this scent is addictive! I love it and I will get me a FB soon! (one lippie more for that).

I’m still on the fence with this one. My initial reaction:
Wow…this is awesome. Powdery, but sooooo exotic. So different. This is sultry, sexy, Mysterious. Alluring…all the qualities I love…and oh so unique!!! This is more wintry I feel, not something for the summer, definitely. I smell incense and to me is “very wintery”. The staying power was fabulous on this. However, when I tried this again, it was almost too cloying. Strange…I was in LOVE with this the day I tried it, but when I went back to it I kind of put on the brakes. The drydown was not so sweet, the spicy I loved was coming through again, but I’m going to re-visit this one after I’ve taken a break from going back and forth between all of them…kind of to “clear my palate” if you will.
Website description: A Peruvian tree resin.
Perfume treasure, this opulent velvety formulation with pure Tolu resin takes you on a sensual Oriental journey. Laced with golden frankincense and amber, the scent’s core is enveloped with a heady mix of orange blossom and clary sage, while intense citrus notes consolidate the harmony.
– Top: Juniper berry, orange blossom and clary sage
– Heart: Orchid, Moroccan rose and muguet
– Base: Tolu, tonka bean, golden frankincense and amber

How Tolu wears on you must depend entirely on your chemistry. I’ve looked over the reviews here and find that in many cases I don’t know what perfume they’re talking about. Many more I agree with. A ambery, soft oriental, heavy on the opoponax. I love this like I love Imperial Opoponax, though it is another season of the same scent, perhaps. Tolu is not as powdery as Imperial, nor as soft, but it has a nice edge of spice and florals to keep it from being a cuddly blanket. Still, it’s, in the end, an oriental, with resins, amber and a few flowers. Lovely. I’d give it 5 lippies, but it reminds me upon full dry down of too many other orientals. This is what Boucheron smells like on my sister (not on me, however.) Elegant, womanly and rich. There’s nothing youthful about it, though, so if you like the spritzy, bouncy brights, you’ll hate this.
