I actually have the pomegranate version of this lip balm by Dr Organic. I like it – it’s keeping my lips lovely and soft, no chapping at all despite the -5 temperatures here in Scotland at the moment. Free from any chemical nasties, easily available (for me at least) and reasonably priced.

Got this for £2.99 from Holland and Barrett website – chucked it in the shopping cart just to qualify for free p+p on my order. Had never heard of the brand, but the price was appealing and I was in need of a new balm to replace my decent-but-not-hg Badger balm anyway.
I’m always on the lookout for decent lip balms, which need to be as natural as possible, hydrating but not gloopy, gentle (my lips are really fussy) reasonably priced and in twist-up tube form.
The Dr Organic balm arrived – 5.7ml in an orange tube, backed by a card which stated the product was moisturising, repairing and restoring, with 100% natural ingredients, certified organic manuka honey (bioactive 30+) and SPF 15 – and without sls, parabens, or artificial colours and fragrances. The ingredients list read:
ricinis communis oil, candelila cera, ozokerite, ethylhexyl methoxycinnamate, butyrospermum parkii butter, cetyl ricinoleate, cera alba, isopropyl myristate, butyl methoxybibenzoylmethane, cera microcristallina, propolis, tocopheryl acetate, parfum, lepstospermum scoparium oil, bha.
The balm was a pale yellow/cream shade (not unlike vaseline), with a fairly firm texture – but not so firm it was difficult to apply. I kept the tube in my pocket and the heat made it a little more pliable, without turning it into a runny/squidgy mess. The scent was quite sweet, and more pleasant than some manuka honey products I’ve tried (but I suppose I was smelling the ‘parfum’ rather than the honey itself).
It made my lips feel smooth and hydrated – a welcome relief after removing my lipstick at the end of the day.
I’ve repurchased along with two other balms from the Dr Organic range: Vitamin E and Pomegranate. Looking forward to investigating this well-priced range further.
