These lip balms are great! I have them in Vanilla Bean and all of the Hello Kitty collection flavors (Sweet Cupcake, Cute Strawberry Banana, Smart Apple, and Pretty Pomegranate). 3 of my Hello Kitty ones didn’t have “secure” packaging so the lip balm would move around if you shook it, so I found out how to fix it lol all I did was carefully pry the balm part out, add a bit of Elmer’s glue to the base part where the balm would attach, and place the balm back into the base. I waited a few minutes for it to dry and voila! Perfectly stable. Now onto the review. All of the flavors are really nice and refreshing due to the slightly minty feel they have (even though they don’t smell like mint). It’s definitely not uncomfortable though, just a nice pick-me-up. Vanilla Bean smells delicious, it’s a classic vanilla and probably my favorite one of all of them. Smart Apple smells exactly how you think it would. Cute Strawberry Banana also has a smell true to its name. Pretty Pomegranate is not what I expected, it’s kind of a sharp fruity smell, but not quite like pomegranate to me. Sweet Cupcake smells just like a chocolate donut or cupcake, if you want to stay true to the name haha. The formula to these is much better than eos’s imo, it’s a lot slicker and not waxy and hard to put on the lips like most of the balms in eos’s line. I feel like it gives me a good amount of moisture. It’s probably one of the most moisturizing balms I’ve tried. And if I accidentally lick my lips then it actually tastes really good. Besides the little packaging foible, I think it’s nice and sturdy. I definitely want to get the mint one and possibly the pomegranate blueberry one as well in the future!

I did not like this product. It is a cute little product, but I did not find it effective at treating my dry/chapped lips. Another con is that when the amount of product runs low you have to dig it out of the container. I felt like I could never get enough product on my lips to actually help them heal.

This was obviously Softlips’ answer to the popularity of eos balms, and I was intrigued. I got especially excited when they created the Hello Kitty line, and decided to hold off on getting one till I saw them. I searched for months in drugstores for them, but couldn’t find them, until last week at Kmart. The only flavor they had was Strawberry Banana, so that’s the one I got.
Packaging:
This is why I was drawn to this balm – the cute, unique packaging. However, the balm itself doesn’t really feel secure in the base and kinda wiggles around. I’m always afraid it’s going to fall out.
Smell/Taste:
It smells like banana Runts candy, which I love. I don’t really smell much strawberry. But when it gets in your mouth, it has a really weird aftertaste that I don’t like at all.
Consistency:
This is my biggest gripe with this balm. I like my balms to be thick and lasting, especially in the winter months. This balm is super thin and greasy-feeling, and fades away quickly.
Overall, I think I’m going to stick to eos when it comes to cute drugstore lip balms.
