One of the things I like most about this color is that it IS a throwback (IMO), but with 2015 qualities. I was doing my nails back in the 80s and mauve was a staple. I would describe Just Lanai-ing Around as mauve, but not that anemic, wimpy pinkish purple that mauve can be but a stronger, saturated shade that (on me) reads a bit violet.
IME OPI has really stepped up its game with its formulas lately and this is no exception. Smooth application, good coverage. Because the finish is rich and glossy, the color looks modern and not outdated. In the store I noticed the slightest streaks of silver shimmer in the bottle but none is showing up on my nails.
I first saw this color on a friend, and my impression was whoa, that’s an odd choice–you sure don’t see that shade every day. But I could not stop looking at her hands–in a good way. I was fascinated by the color. The next day, as I passed by the OPI Hawaii display at my grocery store, my eye went straight to Just Lanai-ing Around. I hadn’t asked her what she had on but there was no mistaking it was the same. It’s like this color takes a stand!
It’s fun having a color so different from everything I already own. I have a feeling I’m going to be wearing it a lot this spring and would certainly re-buy.
Update: Outside, in the bright afternoon sun, I can see the slightest shimmer if I look closely—very pretty. But it doesn’t show up otherwise, at least on me.

Just Lanai-ing Around is from OPI Hawaii 2015 Spring/Summer Collection. This colour when it first come out on the media, it reminds me of the 80s. It is so mauve and I thought why put this in the Hawaii collection? It has a mauve, brownish, purplish colour that has a silver sheen mix in the crème and make the crème finished with shines. I doubt that I will like this colour just by looking at the bottle. However, once I put it on, voila! This colour looks so feminine and elegant. I never thought that I will like it but I do like it. It is so wearable day and night and I got so many comments just wearing this colour.
The application is very easy. One coat makes your nails almost opaque. I put 2 coats to make it looking more solid. And it dries nice and quickly too. I really love this colour. It can be worn also in cold weather as well, very versatile. I will recommend this one to anyone who likes mauve colour.
