There has got to be a better way! First, I’m always afraid that when I open it, the compact will fly out of my hands and spill. You open the mirror part first and then pull on a tiny tab on the inner lid to get to the sifter. It’s opening that 2nd lid that’s scary. Second, the brush is awful. I try to lightly tap the brush into the powder, but I feel like it just dumps powder on the first part of my face it touches. I can’t believe this empty container costs over $20. Luckily I got mine in a swap.

I like the idea of taking loose powder on the go for my oily face. The size is ok to fit in most regular size purse, but I didn’t use the zipper case though. Brush is just OK, not much different from L’Oreal or Revlon blushes come with. I got mine with BE starter kit and returned not long after due to huge pores/shiny/showing up wrinkles, etc. and other issues. Although BE advertised as free gift for this compact with starter kit, I returned anyway (to get full refund). I checked some on ebay but the price is over $20 and I don’t think it worths (I’d rather buy Laura Mercier or Estee Lauder powder with that $). I kept looking for cheaper alternative and now, I found one with much cheaper price. It’s mark from Avon, powdermatic case. It’s black triangle shape with mirror and very similar to this BE compact. Quite a bit bigger though. It’s only $8 and you can open the lid with small screw driver or toothpick to refill your favorite powder. Mark sometimes offers free foundation brush with purchase so I really enjoy mine. 🙂

i have this in the oringal silver w/ black nylon case. paid $25 for it. i carry it around with a bit of mineral veil in it. yes i agree the brush does suck, but i find that if i try “buff” i move my makeup around anyway. i like the brush for just “patting” mineral veil on, usually after i blott with oil papers. i find that’s the best way to use it and it works just fine. i only put a tad of mineral veil in it so i never have a problem with leakage. i do like that this one comes with the carrying case unlike the ones that are coming with the starter sets. why? because currently i’m using the carrying case for my Px virtual matte compact. it fits this case perfectly (besides the depth, Px compact is thinner) and i use the little half moom brush instead of sponge. this is what’s currently working for me. i touch up with Px compact and use the BE case and halfmoon brush to do it.
mineral veil was fine, but lacked color. sometimes i need to add color back bc my oilies wash it all away. anyhow, i love the case and halfmoon brush for this purpose! <3. thinking about getting another one, just in case BE ever discontinues theses and just starts selling refillable compact alone without case. the mirrored compact isn't such as waste bc you can always use it for mixing, blush, or just as a mirror. you can even pull out the sifter and just use it to carry small nick nacks, like earrings or pills.
